SGPRO Rev2(3) or Brevis?

Hello I`ll buy a 35mm adapter in the near future, have seen a lot of footage, read the shootout by Philipp Bloom and so on, but in my eyes the sgpro footage looks in the most cases better (sharper and more saturated), than the brevis footage (the brevisonice-footage was great)- of course there are a lot of settings and postproduction, but I would like to hear your opinion which adapter do you like more?
Also I would like to know, when I have connected the sgpro to my hvx200 once, is there still a longer setup time before shooting than with the brevis when I use the camera always with the adapter (and don`t turn the adapter off)?

OK, would like to hear your opinion, thanks.

Hello,
Once the SGpro is setup with the HVX200 (we actually ship the support system setup with the correct shims and offset anyway), then it is simply a matter of sliding your HVX onto the quick release plate, slide the SGpro up to the HVX and screw the tube onto its threads. Lock the rods clamps, zoom in, focus, set GG spinning and shoot:)

man, the ONLY problem with these adapters is GETTING ONE! WK (above) has been pretty good about answering with info on his SG. but he's generally a month out from order to ship. and ive sent now 3 emails to the cats over at cinevate about the brevis and they havent even responded!!!

i know these are niche' products but DAMN!

i tried finding the lens mount price on the web site, no luck

also tried finding which lens mounts you offer (you being sgpro)

sorry for the hijack

i seem to remeber the mounts being like 70$, and wayne has A ton of different mounts. canon FD. Canon Eos, Nikin F, Pentax m42, Leica, Zeiss, olympus. PL, Oct-19 etc... im sure he will respond.

I'll sell you my Brevis tomorrow.
I used it on a film. Done with the film. Brevis is for sale. Nikon mount.
No wait. Bought it in January and comes with a spare motor and battery. PL mount is an extra 300.00 (never used).

hey berthold could be a good deal, y oushould jump on that, but tim, that kind of offer should be as a PM or in the Market place. fwiw

I ordered my Brevis last week, it shipped today, about a 5 business day turn around, should have it tomorrow by 10:30AM.

Dennis just announced this week that they are all caught up, so it may be an even shorter turnaround than it was for Chuck, which is already ridiculously fast delivery standards for adapter companies.

Just an fyi for people who want an adapter asap.

any more ideas which is the better one?
@Timur: I`m in Germany so that`s a little bit complicated to buy second hand in america. Timur is it possible in your eyes to use the sgpro for handheld shooting? I love your footage always.

For the HVX I need the sgpro, the stepdown ring, the achromat and the mount - but I think it`s still cheaper then the brevis, also the railsystem is included - is there anything wrong about my calculation?

Thanks for replying - I love this forum.

yes i do it all the time. You just need a spider brace or similar shoulder mount to help distrubute weight. The camera gets heavy, but the advantage is its image then feels more like a heavier, pro camera. more stable and with the "right" kind of shake.

I'd seriously look at the Brevis. With the new CF1L it's a mean setup. I've been shooting with F2.8 70-210mm & 28-90mm zooms with no vignetting and great color and sharpness. It's a whole new animal with the improved CF1L. Buy a used Brevis and order the upgrade CF1L. It's the way to go!

Could you post a clip... since a zoom isn't as fast... except when you're doing run and gun shooting... its a lot faster than changes lens...

After a fabulous experience using Timur Civan's SG Pro, I don't regret ordering one, sight unseen. The build quality and ease of set up has no peer. It's sharpness and bokeh blow the competition away. I've used them all and as a professional DP, I'd say this is the first of the low cost adaptors built for pro use. The one I used, I think was the Rev 1. I ordered the Rev 3. The only downside is the wait. But hey, Wayne does get back to you ASAP and tells you when he can't take anymore orders. Also, the customizing for the HVX is fabulous - no more offset, hence less than great edge to edge sharpness.

I went all out for the SGPro. Originally it was just as it was a product built here in the good old UK, but having used it straight out of the packaging, its a dream to use. The bokeh is great, the quality both build and resultsgreat and thats just with cheap Nikons from Ebay.

Simple and quick to set up - seriously. With the rails I can attach my hand grips, follow focus and when it arrives the Matte box from Redrockmicro.

And thanks to both maarten_smeenk and Wayne of SGPRO, I finally got myself an arm for my 7inch monitor that attaches to the larger of the two tripod holes on the base connector. The connection is rock solid and leaves the regular tripod mount free to attach to a tripod. Maartin, even though I didn't make my own, I found a company that makes the monitor arm like yours here in the UK. The idea for the mount to the tripod was perfect thinking on your part and led me to the right solution.

I am so impressed by the SGPRO that I invested today in a brand new ZEISS F1.4 50mm lens, Nikon Mount so that I can go even shallower and faster!! Theo, thanks for the advice !!!

Having seen REDROCKMICRO's new flip unit shown at NAB, it begs the question to Wayne, are you planning to produce an add on unit like this? For now I'm happy with my flip monitor attached to the sgpro base mount. But a flip unit would be a nice addition to the amazing SGPRO.

Rock on. I can't wait to see your follow focus unit !
