Sgpro rev.2, Old school.

As we are preparing for our shoot starting this monday, I took my camera man with outside on green fields to let him get to know the Sgpro. We did turns on the camera while the other being the subject. Being the subject is somewhat boring so we did a lot of boredome smoking. So if you are offended by smoking, do not watch. Loosely edited, but we kinda made old school looking.
Shot with dvx-100, sgpro rev.2, pentax lenses: 55mm f 1.2, 28mm f 2.8
It's quite big,(don't know why this time) 111mb, 3min long. h.264, 640x480.

wow, your footage always amazes me smettli. I was set on getting the M2, but i think you've almost single-handedly persuaded onto the sgpro. How comes your footage is so much sharper than most other peoples? Is it your pentax lenses? I know next to nothing about lenses, i was going to go for the nikon mount version, should i consider the pentex mount? What are the pros and cons?

btw, i loved the test icicles when they were around. cool track. we have very similar musical tastes, what with your obvious admiration of boards of canada and the like.

Thanks for kind words!
James, I haven't tested any nikons yet, but I would bet that they would be just as sharp when looking at stuff from both Timur and theor with the sgpro. The 28mm I used was really cheap, but produces very sharp pictures. The pro about nikons is that they are easier to get a hold of, there aren't as many pentax lenses. I got the pentax mount(also have the nikon mount) because I had some from my father's old photography days. Definately go with the sgpro, James. I'm not even gonna try to be objective on this mather, The sgpro just rocks. I have only set it up one time, ducked taped it, and the sgpro stays on the dvx :) Too bad about the test icicles, they were like: "we were just experimenting", when do experiments ever go that well?

Wayne, my friend Espen Pedersen sent you an e-mail earlier today concerning he had an issue with blurry highlights on his sgpro, but don't worry, we got the adapter off and the glass on the achromat had some condensation on it because he was breathing heavily on it while aligning the dvx with the adapter. So he just wiped it off, and now it's just fine. He's actually working on my project, so guess what, two sgpro's on my short :) Been stressing all day, and have about two hours now before I have to get up for our first day of dual sgpro mania, so now it's sleeping time :)

Thanks again guys! And good night.

I really like your colours. What program do you cc with?
Was this uprezzed with instant HD like some of your other stuff?
It would be great to see some footage from your shoot. Lycka till!

smettli, i know youve explained it before, but can you please explain, possibly in a little more detail your compression settings. i think thats part of my problem. it looks like crap once i put it online, but during capture looks crisp as anything. also do you use 24p or 60i or 30i which software do you use. thanks man looks like "DA BOMB" awesome

Yes, it's PAL 25p. This was not uprezzed, just plain 720x576 rez. I edit in premiere and did cc in premiere. I output the file as a 640x480 quicktime h.264 file, with the quality bar at "80". Here's a little picture from this days shoot of the sgpro's in action:

I have/had 2 very bad addictions. Smoking and spending money on camera gear. Thanks to you I had to call my sponsor. Footage looks great, as usual.

Stuttered feel

Stuttered feel

Firstly this isn't a critism, I think your footage is some of the most filmic I have seen on this forum and I think I have been converted to the Sgpro from Letus from your footage. I have yet to purchase an adapter, so forgive my ignorance but I felt the footage was great but had stuttered low frame rate feel to it when objects are moving quickly in frame. Is this a result of the adapter or/and lens or a camera setting/compression?. I have heard briefly about the idea of using fast lens? is this the reason for the "stuttering"? James

I have no clue about the stuttering, I know what you mean, but I just thought of that being the part of progressive recording. Don't know about the fast lens.

thank you!why did you take 1 and
not 2...(they say 2 is the one for
the dvx)do you know the difference
between 1 and 2? thanx again!

A follow focus is next on my wish list, I'm excited about the FF Wayne will produce.

Rolf; The spiderbrace 2 is made for the dvx-100, and has a crooked back piece so it alignes the camera in front of your eye so you can use the viewfinder. But with
a 35mm adapter with rails on it you want the spiderbrace 1 with the straight backpiece so you can place the dvx with rails and adapter over your shoulder and instead using an external monitor for viewing.
