Hello guys,

i've just made a very quick bokeh test with this combo:

HVX200E
SGpro r.2
Nikon 50mm f1.2 (@f1.4)

H264, 24.5mb

It's just one shot with cristmass lights as subject.

Any comments would be great!

thanks a lot,

Bokeh-tastic. I was seriously considering the SGPro but it wasn't finished so I ended up getting the M2.

its almost exactly in function to the M2, just with better optics and a "secret weapon" in its optics.

poetic, strange, beautiful !
music is a great choice. (it remember something to me, what is it?)
Any post-prod ?

Nice. I notice you compress it out to a 2:3:5.I think you did it on your last test as well... Why?

Theo,

nice lighting. Everything I see that you've shot makes me glad I bought the SG PRO [should arrive this week]. That Bokeh is amazing. How far out of focus do you have to get it?

Nice to see its from the Nikon lenses as well.

What do you use to correct the flipped image when framing? Or do you just shoot with the flipped image?

Stuff looks great as usual.

Thank you guys.

Music : Density 21.5 - Edgar Varese

SurJones, i love to shoot in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. I find it better for the most of the situations.

majormorgan, as far as i can remember, the lights were completely out of focus.
As for the framing, 50% i shoot with flipped image and 50% with a Varizoom 7' Monitor.
Btw, this test and the previous two shorts (blue, thanar) were shot without the Varizoom.

Thanks a lot again!

Good golly! That looks very nice. I'm looking forward to see more clips - and I might consider dumping my M2 for the SGPro.

Theo does the 7inch Varizoom have a flip function or do you just mount it rotated 180 degrees? If rotated what arm did you use to hold it?

Also what video connection does it use? If its composite does the HVX pump out a downconverted picture to SD composite even though you might be shooting 1080 or 720?

I've just realised, I think you are using the HD version with the HD component connectors.

Thanks!

Richard, you can see about the monitor here: http://www.varizoom.com/products/monitors/vztft7.html (Yes, it flips the image) It's not the HD version and i connect it via composite. Quality isn't the best... it just does the job.

You can see 2 photos of the monitor mounted on my previous dvx with my previous SGpro :D

Do you find the SGpro r2 to take off some resolution in the sharp areas (Chromatic aberration) or is it good up to 1920. I'm considering buying one and would love to know if it's sharp throughout.

Many thanks

James

i have seen 1080 cine Frame screen grabs, where it was 100% sharp form corner to corner. its really remarkable.

I met up with Phil Bloom today in London, very nice guy indeed. We did a little testing with the Redrock M2, the Brevis35 and the SGpro R2. Phil will be doing a write up on that over the next week, with footage and res charts.
