SGpro+Flip edge to edge

Hello here comes one more - Lenny mailed me a res chart...

This one is a Nikon 135mm 2.8 lens.

Also I really don`t know/see the best HVX focus - when I press focus, the autofocus jumpes between 60 and 75!!!
Without flip it was always 20 or 21, the autofocus stopped after 1 or 2 seconds, when focussing the groundglass.

Any suggestions?? Maybe a middle focus between corner and middle?

In all the stuff I shot with the flip until now, in 95% I never realized the softness on the corners - so it is really quite usable.

Have you tried shooting the chart without the flip as well? Good test to try!

Lenny is pretty right about the center focus deal. I'll back him up on that one. I did the same thing with a DVD shelf and on a 42" screen, when everything is still. it's obvious that the adapter fell off toward the sides.

It's good that Wayne is also now planning to put out an Achromat for the EX-1 and HVX.

Bertholt,

I have a couple questions about the charts.

Why are they red? Seems like that could affect the sharpness since CA is an issue with all of these. Also I always want to see charts with the HVX iris wide open since that's where the problems show up and where we all sometimes need to shoot.

Hello Lenny, the charts are red because I`m from the RAF (bad joke) no my printer is damgaged - could not fix this. Maybe saturday I have time to shot a res chart with HVX iris wide open.
I hope in one month or so the problem is gone with the new achromat from Wayne.

I really like this forum, yesterday we had res charts wich seemed not 100% sharp from edge to edge. Today we have an anouncement of one of the best 35mm adaptermakers, wo said they are on the way to fix the problem...

Why use your printer? I just take the charts into the computer (I use final cut pro but it must be the same with all of them) and just export through quicktime as a still image - a jpeg. Pretty easy and I'm a computer moron.

This si a great forum and the manfacturers are all very responsive.
Thanks to Wayne for that.

With the flipunit, I got a replace-condenser lense. Timur is that the one you are speaking about - or is there a newer version?

Hi Bertholt,
When your SGPRO arrived? Wayne, does my SGPRO has a new condenser lens? I haven't tried it with my HVX only with my Z1. It worked fine with Z1.

Im confused, is the condensor part of the SG adapter itself or the flip (and where within the devices)? Was the condensor an issue with the Brevis Flip?

It,s the new achromat designed only for work with EX-1 or HVX? It,s ok with DVX 100?
Thanks.

I think that's incorrect. I may be wrong in which case Wayne will correct me no doubt, but the condensor is a lens on the main body of the SG unit that I assume helps to even out the focus issues and prepare the image for the achromat which in the flip is between the flip and the video camera and on the pre- flip SG was at the end of a 2- 3" tube and also attached to the video camera lens.
