SGpro+Flip edge to edge

UPDATE: Please check post number 13 - I could achieve a better corner to midsharpness!

Hello I did a fast and dirty test to check mid and corner sharpness of the sgpro + flip. Excuse me, didn`t had a res chart at this time. I think the edge to edge sharpness is quite OK, but I think it`s a little bit better without the flipunit.

If there is someone other with sgpro and sgproflip - please tell me your settings (zoom and focus).

Thanks

Did you guys check out the test I posted with the Brevis Flip and SG rev 2?
I was surprised to see it looks even sharper than a pre-flip SG. Certainly as good anyway. Actually according to what's written on the chart its looks faster too. That sounds weird to me though and to be honest could be a mistake. I think the sharpness though would be accurate.

it never worked right. Hien is sending me a better ( current) condenser lens. when that shows i will test it out.

With the flipunit, I got a replace-condenser lense. Timur is that the one you are speaking about - or is there a newer version?

Interesting, with the Brevis Flip I just skipped the SG's condensor. Unless one is built into the flip?

So did you guys have trouble with the first SGPro flip units ?

the condenser is attached to the SG body. you kinda cant bypass it without major surgery.

Hello here comes one more - Lenny mailed me a res chart...

This one is a Nikon 135mm 2.8 lens.

Also I really don`t know/see the best HVX focus - when I press focus, the autofocus jumpes between 60 and 75!!!
Without flip it was always 20 or 21, the autofocus stopped after 1 or 2 seconds, when focussing the groundglass.

Any suggestions?? Maybe a middle focus between corner and middle?

In all the stuff I shot with the flip until now, in 95% I never realized the softness on the corners - so it is really quite usable.

OK, I think the best way to focus is not to focus 100% on the center.
Like Lenny said on an other thread - a middle focus is the best.
I think even with the lens wide open, this focus chart looks better than the one before, whre I focused 100% on the center of the picture.
It seems that the replace condenser lense is to give you a wider range to focus the groundglass of the SGpro - because when using the original SGpro Groundglass together with the flip, there is not such a big range of (HVX)focus where the center seems sharp (I hope I could express my Idea understandable).

Hi Guys,

We have been working hard on this to offer an optional replacement flip module achromat, both for the HVX200 and Sony EX1. The results have got us excited :) The achromats are now designed and on order. The upgrade will not be costly.

OK, this are good news Wayne. When can we place orders? I hope It won`t be so costly, because now I`ve paid already for 2 achromats (1SGpro + 1Flip).

I really love my SGpro - thanks for this adapter!!

Hi,

The achromats have just been ordered from our optics manufacturer, so they should arrive in just over a month if we are lucky. We are looking at under £99 for the upgrade, possibly well under.
