I will write up a Full report in a day or two.

but i will say this. This thing is so sharp its sick.

I am in LOVE!

You guys will love it too.

Thanks for sharing Timur.

Its a custom unit in that, Timur ordered the original SG35, and then upgraded some items from the new SGpro, so its an SG35/SGpro hybrid. It has the Sgpro die cast alu box, Sgpro optics and GG, a fixed metal FD mount (sgpro uses interchangeable mounts) and the old SG35 support.
We offer the following lens mounts:

Canon FD
Canon EOS/EF
M42
Contax
Leica R
Leica M39 Screwmount
Minolta MD
Nikon
Olympus OM
Pentax K
Exakta/Topcon (limited supply)
PL mount (yet to be finalized)

The mount in my sig is the Nikon mount.

I will be receiving the new CNC aluminium support system from my machine shop in a few days for the SGpro, and can post pictures of the full SGpro rig over the weekend if anyone is interested.

hey wayne,
any plans for a relay lens for XL1/2/H1 and HD100/200/250 users, yet?
6 cams with interchangeable lenses already out there...
regards,

spart

sorry, didn´t want to threadjack, keep looking forward seeing your footage Timur...

Hi,
it is something we have thought about but by no means a priority on our to-do list.

well,
hopefully, when your new model is up and running, you´ll find the time to make one, as said there are 6 cams now, who would benefit from a relay lens...
and as a customer, I´ll just keep asking hehe...

Hey you guys, i can write a bit more now. but still no footage you have to wait till Sunday night for that as i am working for the next 72 hour straight.

The build on the Pro segments of the Adapter is top notch. Beautifully put together, and completely sealed.

When i unpacked it , it wasnt working right away, but this was due to the fact that i am an idiot and accidentally twisted the batter case wire, and internally, two wires became crossed, and caused a short. 20seconds, 4 screws and a can of "dust B gone compressed air" i was ready to go.

THe set up on the rails, ( the old rails) was relatively easy. a few small adjustments, and it was ready to shoot. The beauty of this adapter is that the DVX is not directly connected to the GG segment. a stepdown ring, yo uattach to the DVX threads, fits over a tapered, segment of the Achromat. thats it. the rails do the rest of the support. no unessesary stress on my precious DVX!!!!!

Once we got past this point i turned her on....

The new motor makes almost no noise. The SG35 motor made a racket, as tested in Envisions report. The SGpro motor.... whisper quiet even at full power. it is audible but it sounds like the tape drive on the DVX. a soft whirrrrrr

I initially started with my 28mm F2.8 lens, and it produced a very pleasing image. Nothing to scream about, andi figured, hey this adapter looks nice, relatively sharp, no vingetting, almost no chroma abbrasion. But i was kinda hoping for a blow my mind, pin sharp image. (mind you Wayne and i are trying to converse on MSN messenger he was helping me with set up)

What did blow my mind immediatly was the Color. it really trandslates color beautifully. IMO. IT doesnt change them at all, but it mutes them, while retaining, brightness... its weird, you gotta see it. ITs beautiful.

In the back of my mind, i was thikning, i just wish it were a little sharper.....

Then i switched from a no name, 28mm to a Canon FD F1.4 50mm lens. The difference was night and day. it was easily twice as sharp, it is GREAT!

i would say it retains about 90% of the sharpness of a normal DVX. the slight softness the image is a small price to pay for the benefits you get in terms of the now aural, organic quality the footage takes on, especailly the color....... I just cant get over the way it renders color. You have to see it. Footage in 2 days. i promise!!!!!!

I really like it. It is a great Adapter. It is a little big, but i think its the perfect adapter for my purposes.

Hey Timur!!! :)))
That`s just awesome, can`t wait for the footage :P
I got one question to you or Wayne for that matter...does sgpro flip the image? As I understood from some of Wayne`s posts, this new model will be able to that, just like Letus Flip.
Cheers guys.
Waiting for the footage, i KNOW it`s gonna be brilliant.

Hello Cipa.

We decided not to have a flip feature on the SGpro, since the current methods of flipping the image simply do not cut it in terms of image quality in our opinion, and since build and image quality are the main objectives in designing the SGpro, it simply was not a choice we were going to choose.

Hey Wayne. When are youg going to be taking orders for the new Pro unit? When you are ready what will be the turn around time?

Thanks,

Jason

OK a more complete review.

The Pro's:

The image quality.

The image quality of this adapter is matched by the quality of the lenses you put on it. The better the lens, the sharper the picture you get.

NAturally there will be some image degridation, as it is being read off a GG diffuser. But that being said, i think the Picture is very damn near perfect for my needs. The motor is quiet, and because its a spinning GG there is no Static grain, or any grain fo r that matter. none. it just isnt there.

The light loss with this adapter is amazingly low. I just shot some stuff under indoor nightitme natural light ,and managed to get a "standard" DVX like exposure. i just reccomend using 1/24th shutter for indoor stuff. The whole set up loses about 2 stops, all together, 1 stop form the lens, about a half from the adapter, and about another half from the DVX at Z71. using 1/24th, it buys you back one stop, so your only losing about 1-1.5 stops effectively. Which is awesome! I didint think i would be able to shoot with the adapter under normal circumstances. but as it turns out you can.

the build quality is VERy nice. Once assembled, it feels solid, and does not wiggle, rattle or shake anywhere.

Cons:

Its heavy, and very uncomfortable to hold for doing handheld stuff.i suspect the new rails will be more comfortable as they are rounded and look lighter. the currentrails, the plastic sg35 ones, are square cornered and thus hard to hold.

Its heavy.......

Its heavy and uncomfortable to hold for handheld shots...... Wayne send me my pretty auminum rails already!!!!.......... ;)

Other than that i cant find any faults.... i love it. its image quality is awesome. as you guys can check here.

GREAT JOB WAYNE!!!!! you have a winner.

i think it will. I just did a res test. MY unit being a custom Sg35 SGpro hybrid, optically is not perfect. but thesharp segment in the middle 550 lines of res. just like a stock DVX. so one i send it back to wayne for the adjustment in the tube length, the image will be Lossless, like the M2. so i would say yes, it probably is as sharp.
