SG35 Short Film

its nice to see what a 35 adapter (any adapter) can do in the hands of someone who knows how to use it. IT really makes the production quality go up leaps and bounds.

but one thing it will do, which is a plus in my book, is it will force us all to FINALLY learn how to light properly, especially indoor stuff.

Very nice. The colours and composition felt very filmic.

tell us more about the CC.

Ok here's some full res grabs. Just pulled them off my timeline with 85% jpeg quality.

As you can see the side of the adapter is in shot in almost all of these.. We were monitoring the footage in overscan which was a bit of a blunder. Wayne's new sliding plate mechanism will help you setup the cam properly and hopefully keep it in position. Enlarging the clips by 5% gets rid of the edge. No CC has been done on any of the grabs you've seen. I'll be doing that last after I've dabbled with shake to replace most of the overcast skies.

The images look sharper on my tv for some reason. Maybe its something to do with resolution.

Video coming soon...

Dan, nice grabs. I like the feel. In a few of the lighter shots it looks like one or more of the glass surfaces are pretty dirty. One of the downsides of an adapter is the extra six surfaces to clean .... Unfortunately they often don't show on your LCD.

yeh definetly. There's half a day of footage where there's this really annoying finger print on the lens.. I'm gonna sort out fine bits of dirt etc. in shake using a tool like the clone stamp in photoshop.

Every adapter should come with a lens pen and can of compressed air :-) Sealing it up just adds more surfaces for flaring.

I'm sure in a few months someone will come up the XX35 with antistatic dirt repelling features...ha.

i think the way it handles highlights is great. notice the sky while white is not a pure sheet of white. Dan, did you reflect light into the actors face to compensate for the backlight?

its because its moving. Everything looks sharper moving. also, it may have something to do with hte TV being native resolution. CAuse when you watch video fullscreen on a 17" computer monitor, it always looks kinda crap, but on a normal 17" TV set it looks better. actually it can look much better.

Man, that looks really good. I would love to try this adpter...too bad you have to always use a tripod with it and it doesn't support canon fd :-( That is no good for me.
