SG35 - Not mine but I like :)

SG35 and LETUS35a

SG35 and LETUS35a

I have the SG35 and the Letus35A and can say that both are great, the SG35 is my pick on picture quality and with rails its really good. Wayne is a top bloke and his support is fantastic.
I am looking to do a side by side comparison of the 2 'homebuild adaptors' and although i dont have a DVX (Canon GL2/XM2) its just to show the adaptors worth.

PS: Steven - had a look at your site last night and it blew me away.. absolutely stunning footage there mate.. very inspiring.. thanks

Quinn

The test are looking good. I've seen a lot of adapter footage where the images are just way too soft, but these look very nice.

i just purchased a sg35!!!!!! i cant wait to get it! but unfortunatly i have to wait till March 15th to use it.

that piece of footage of the woman brushing the cat is what sold me. its contrast range and color was amazing, and it was shot with a regular videocamera no DVX no Cinegamma. The highlights didint seem to blow out too badly, and the sky most importantly was a crisp blue. not hazy white blue, or solid over exposed white.

Dear all,
I'm super interested in purchasing a sg35, but on the website it doesn't seem to have any ordering info. Should I just contact Wayne directly? He seems very nice, but I don't want to seem intrusive or pushy, 'cause it seems like a lot of people want one. Thanks, fellas.

Hello Guys, thanks for your comments.

Reverend, I have now added contact information at the bottom of my website.

im waiting for a 35 adapter that flips the image so no more right side up, upside down video.

yeah wayne has a beta model that flips the image the right way up also with my dvx and z1 i can now relax in peace that this model will work for them without step down/up rings, he specifically designs it for whatever camera you have. Where else do you get tailor made adapters?

For those of you using Safari (I'm probably one of the few...) I've had trouble opening the link above, so here are a couple of ways to get around that- use Explorer, or you can download from the direct links: (Right clikc and download the files)

Test #1: (26MB) The better of the two IMO-

Test #2: (11MB) The one referenced above by Disjecta-

This adapter definately produces some nice images ...

I'm the guy who has been tested this unit with my DVX. This thing really does impress me. I usually shoot 35mm or 16mm when I'm working on commercials, I've got a small job comming up which the production company I work for are hiring me the p+s adaptor. But I'm also going to use the SG35 for some pick up shots , I can't wait to post the commercial for some serious side by side comparison.
I know alot of people have become miopic about DOF and extreme focus pulling where these adaptors are concerened, but in reality you only use this once or twice in a piece of work, or at least you should.
Obviously the SG35 can do this in spades but what really impresses me is the way this thing handles flesh tones and colours and the overall modeling on your subject.
Well done Wayne.

Woo who. That SG35 footage is freaking gorgeous.

Is it straight shooting no CC? Or what?

Daaamn that's great. I think I'm in for the SG35. It comes with mounts as well I see? Or am I reading wrong?

Is this the stock lens that comes with the SG35 as well? Or has that footage been doctored. The footage I'm talking about is

This is just a "converter". You need to buy the lens yourself. A Nikon 50mm f1.4 is usually a good all round lens.

I think I need to research all of the 35mm adapters a bit more. But this one still looks good, even if you have to buy your own lens.

I was sure I'd get a different lens anyway.

Kholi, thanks for your comments. The footage has had no CC only fliped 180 degrees in post.

Yes you need to buy the lenses you plan to use with the adapter, same as with all the commercial adapters availible. I offer Nikon, Canon FD or Canon EF mounts.

Hey pipe if you get a chance, can you shoot some Out door sunlight shots. CAuse the DVX footage we'vse seen has been indoor. ( the PDA shots and the helicopter) Even if it's just out your window. I just wanna see how the CineGamma, and the SG35 interact with strong highlights and really harsh contrast.

Thanks!

Timur,
I will try and organise some outdoor shots with Stephen (pipe) once your unit is built prior to shipping.
