Hello,

I carried out a test shoot with the DVX100 and SG35 today. A big thank you to Stephen Pipe for making time to test the SG35 with his DVX100. We put together a quick sequence indoor, lit by a single 350w tungstun. December weather in the UK rendered outside shooting a no go.

Here is a clip, 26MB Quicktime 7 (please update to latest quicktime version to play) h.264 codec:

And below are some pictures of the setup:

There are a few changes i want to make to the adapter before offering the SG35 to dvx100 users, which im working on now.

Any comments would be great.

Wayne! This looks fantastic! I want one!
You mentioned before that a 12v supply will work with the SG35. When you start selling them, will one be included? (I'm not a big battery fan, but having the option would also be awesome.)
When will you be ready to start selling?
Keep up the great work!

Thanks for your comments guys.

The SG35 has a 2.5mm DC socket on the side, ready for a 12v supply (be it mains or batteries. Im not currently offering the mains supply, due to differences in mains outlets from UK. a good radio shack 12v adapter should work fine.

Also, im going to cut the battery pack down from 8AA's to 4AA's, as this puts the speed control into a more useful range.

Please give me a few more weeks to finalise the dvx100 design, and i should be ready for dvx100 orders.

Thanks,
wayne.

"a good radio shack 12v adapter should work fine."

Ah, sounds good. Any idea on a final price for the SG35? Will you offer different packages? Maybe one with support rods and one without? Perhaps?

Also, do you have a website with more information?

(wipes up drool)

Man, 35mm adapters are just too cool... I'm like a giddy little school girl.

Prices:
-------

SG35 unit with adjustable 15mm rods support and achromatic close up lens - £199 ($350)

Optional Quick Release Sliding plate - £50 - ($85)

The sliding plate is not needed but is an attractive option, as it allows quick and easy connection of the camcorder to the baseplate, and also allows the whole rig to slide up and down the rods to get the best balance on the tripod.

I offer either Nikon or Canon FD lens mount.

Shipping:
---------

Fedex 1 day: £60 ($104)

Turnaround:
----------

Turnaround from payment received to shipping is 2 - 4 weeks. if payping by paypal, there is an extra 3 - 5 day wait.

Website coming soon: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/wayne.kinney/sg35.htm

Thanks,
Wayne.

Sorry,
Im sure you understand i want to refrain from giving details of the setup. I have put alot of time and research into this.

Regards,
Wayne.

This is awesome Wayne!
Is it manual focusing or autofocus?? To me it looked like there where autofocusing. Really nice to se that you design the setup with sunshades and matteboxes in mind

Would be really nice to see some daylight/outdoorfootage. When do you plan to start the production of the SG35??

Keep up the good work!

Thanks Laffen,
Yes, we were planning on shooting along Brighton Sea Front and the peir, but it was storming outside (gotta love UK).

All was manual focus, iris, shutter..etc.

Once i make my final modifications and retest with the dvx100, i shell be ready to take orders.

Thanks,
Wayne.

Wow really nice. Worth the wait. I want the first one for dvx! Let me know when I can order. Thanks!

Hello,
The achromat used is a good quality lens sourced here in the UK.

I will try and get final tests with the dvx100 done soon.

Thanks,
wayne.

wayne i hope you'd be willing to partake in a 35 mm adapter comparison test that most likely will be performed by The top brass here, I think they were waiting for the G35 to be released. But it be honest, i think youre adapter and the G35 seem to be the best. the red rock looks far too soft form y taste, but you never know thatm ay have changed.

Thsi should be interesting.

But your machine without a doubt wins in the price department. under 400$ with rods and an acromat.

Thanks.
Sounds interesting, could you tell me more regarding this comparison test and who it will be carried out by?

Thanks,
Wayne
