SG35 - DVX100 - First Test Footage and Pictures

Most likely Barry green or Jared land. Contact them see if they have plans to do so. send them a Private message.

What other cameras will the SG35 fit on?
Will it work with the XL2? Or will you built a version for the XL2?
Will you also fabricate a followfocus?
BTW, nice to have an alternative coming from places that can be reached by ryanair or easyjet ;o)
And please: try to gather some hi-res quality content footage once you finish the final product, the G35 guys already did it right, if you need betatesters let me know!!!
Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comments.

I currently have an XL2 beta tester, so expect XL2 footage up in the next few weeks.

I shell be getting some better footage together from all the top cams ready for the webpage.

Had a z1 shoot/test yesterday, I'll post the footage up from that tonight. We shot outside at night, and we are very pleased with the SG35's performance in low light.

Thanks,
Wayne.

Hello,

I carried out a test shoot with the DVX100 and SG35 today. A big thank you to Stephen Pipe for making time to test the SG35 with his DVX100. We put together a quick sequence indoor, lit by a single 350w tungstun. December weather in the UK rendered outside shooting a no go.

Here is a clip, 26MB Quicktime 7 (please update to latest quicktime version to play) h.264 codec:

And below are some pictures of the setup:

There are a few changes i want to make to the adapter before offering the SG35 to dvx100 users, which im working on now.

Any comments would be great.

Wayne this looks brilliant. How much are you going to be doing these for? Did you do any post production (colour correction work etc) on this or is it 'raw'? When you going to have these ready to sell? Mail me at doonae@hotmail.co.uk man. I'm on the verge of getting an adapter from the states but could well swing over to this....supporting a fellow brit and all that!

You have email, doonae.

The footage is raw, only flipped 180. DVX100 version will be ready in a few weeks.

Thanks,
Wayne.

wow wayne. I couldnt watch the DVX clip until today. Its phenominal.

see if you can post a 10 second DV file again. i would love to see it full res.

Youre making a believer out of me....

Wow this is so exciting.. a compeititor to G35.. yup, price dept u score! Will be waiting for the Z1 clip.. so I may I confirm u r planning on a Z1/FX1 ver as well?

Wayne,I'm having problems with the footage. The page just cant load.I have QT 7.02. Is that right?

Hey, out of curiosity, how well would that setup work with a stabilizer like a glide cam or something? Would it be way hard to balance or anything of the like?

The footage looks very soft and grainy in my opinion. The bokeh is not smooth like it should be, but rather coarse. What is the 35mm lens you are using, perhaps this is part of the problem?

engr,
Yes its the h264 codec for the latest version of quicktime. Please try again as the server my have had trafic.

Spencer,
The rig is just under 1.5KG. Can anyone experienced with steadi/glide cams give any input?

tigeba,
You maybe right on the softness, this was one of the issues I have now resolved and ready for the dvx100 retest. The graininess im sure is compression.

After the DVX100 retest, I'll upload a clip with less compression, and also a short DV compressed clip.

Thanks,
Wayne.
