Sexy D90 rig

here's my opinion:

Cavision rods and plate is well designed to fit all sorts of camera. I like the adjustable canterlever plate design, it's simple and effective. other companies doesnt quite have canterlever plate but rather have distributed support(redrock), and others have two end supports(letus, cinevate, zacuto). while all of the design works well, I like the cavision the best bc it's not robust, and it doesnt need to be, it needs to be clean.

The whole idea of designing a product is to have a full functional unit that uses the least material but at the same time cost less. in the rod support and acc dept, cavision got it.

and about camera support rod, dont buy solid support rod unless you use zacuto w-mount/clamp, bc it's useless and waste of money.

other than that, its just opinion. if you have questions, just ask.

happy filming

I think it should work well with a DFSLR/follow focus/bellows mounted on a steadytracker. I want to keep the rig as light and compact as possible so my arm doesn't drop off.

Yeah I think zacuto and redrock rods are overkill for a D90. They would burn a major hole in my pocket plus they look heavy......I know we're only talking a few grams but I'm not built like a brick shithouse so a few grams matters.

How much would a set up like that cost?

Is there another recommendation that someone has?

B&H and Adorama have pricing. I'm only interested in the "mini DV" carbon fibre rods/support and the eye piece. Unless somebody tells me it's garbage I'm going to get one of the follow focus units from india on ebay.

ive used redrock follow focus and it was great, no play in the gear shaft that i could tell. I heard their gearbox is sourced from a distributor that gnerally makes "micro gearbox."

now it seems like cavision make their own gearbox or its taylor to their specific need. other than that it's the same as others for function and form. I had my eyes on those follow focus for awhile now. i believe it's good product.
