Sex

I'm going to be that person who just comes out and says it, agree or disagree with me, but I like sex scenes in film. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. All films are the artists expression of what he wants to convey so if he wants to show two people or three hundred people humping, more power to him. I see nothing wrong with it and hoenstly, I don't think its going to change.

If you believe that sex is a beautiful (or animalistic) act between a man and (up to three) a women and that film is about showing beauty, then there is nothing wrong with showing a sex scene.

Of course, my opinion.

I never addressed the original comments...Anyone who would be a control freak when it comes to a wife's/girlfriend's artistic career (by putting limitations on her in that way) most likely will lose said wife/girlfriend sooner rather than later.

Now, back to the regularly scheduled NUDITY, already in progress...

Like I said, nudity has it place in certain films.

That being said...
The absolute sexiest, and the most sensual moments in cinematic history have contained no nudity at all.

For Example:

Some of The Sexiest
-The Seven Year Itch (Marilyn, Marilyn, Marilyn)

-Dr. No (Ursula Andress)
-Cool Hand Luke (The "Broad Washing Her Car Scene")

Some of the Most Sensual

-Casablanca
-Double Indemnity
-To Have And Have Not
-Notorious
-From Here To Eternity
-Rear Window
-North by Northwest
-The Thomas Crown Affair (1968)

These three are in a different backyard than the others.
Yup...but I'm sorry that Sharon Stone is not there too.

EDIT1 - As well, Basinger. Or even Carré Otis.
EDIT2 -- OK, forget this last cat one... :bath::2vrolijk_08:
LAST PS BUT NOT LEAST -- Maybe the problem is...are producers like Mario Kassar, despite the first two Terminator...

THE BLONDE

She begins to hose the dusty car, splashing herself, making
the cotton dress cling to her body, tossing her hair, every
movement and gesture erotic and provocative.

THE MEN

Their work is completely disorganized as they attempt to
shovel while watching. Their voices overlap.

KOKO
Man Oh Man.

LUKE
That is one mean lady. Bet her husband
spends one day a week shooting
milkmen.

BLIND DICK
Lookit her bounce.

GAMBLER
Oh lean over here, lady. Lean this
way.

TRAMP
I wouldn't mind being that hose.

GAMBLER
More... a little more.

TATTOO
I don't know if I believe it.

BLONDIE
She's so big!

GAMBLER
Now lean down... a little more.

DRAGLINE
Lookit that little honeypot. Lookit
those legs.

MECHANIC
Oh man, I ain't never been so thirsty
in my life.

THE BLONDE

She begins to rub the windshield erotically.

BLIND DICK
Oh rub.

SLEEPY
Rub.

DRAGLINE
Rub!

BABALUGATS
Rub-a-dub-dub. Rub-a-dub-dub.

KOKO
I'm dyin'. I'm dyin'!

DRAGLINE
Look, she's got paint on her toenails!
Oh Lord, whatever I done, don't strike
me blind for 'nother couple minutes.
Oh you Lucille!

DRAGLINE AND LUKE

LUKE
Lucille? Where do you get that?

DRAGLINE
(whirling)
That'sa Lucille, you mullet head!
Any girl so innocent and built like
that gotta be named Lucille.

LUKE
Innocent?

BLIND DICK
She don't even know what she's doin!.

LUKE
She knows exactly what she's doin.
She's drivin' you crazy and lovin'
it.

DRAGLINE
Shut your mouth 'bout my Lucille.

LUKE
Your Lucille? Man, you better put
them glasses back on and take a look
at yourself.

DRAGLINE
(glaring)
Boy. You jus' asking to be handled!

lol thats a classic clip KDAWG.

is sex necessary in modern cinema? Sure sex is fine and its part of life. Now mind you, sex and fu*king are two differnt things, lol. Trust me i know lots about this subject. I do not think that showing insertion shots in a modern movie will benefit, not even a story line. If you want to show a full fledge sex scene just shoot a porno, get it out of your system. I still like to think that people have a little more brains and would rather enjoy a sexy scene in a film, compared to raw dick to ass action. Shooting content is easy, shooting actors in nude is somwehat difficult. Good luck lol

I may be off on this somewhere, but I thought from the original post that he meant actual sex.

I don't mind sex scenes in movies if it drives the story or characterization. What I hate is gratuitous sex. An example would be in The Dukes of Hazzard when the boys go to college and see all the topless co-eds. That's gratuitous and has nothing to do with the movie except start a buzz with the pre-pubescents.

As for actually having sex for a film -- IMO its unprofessional. I happen to act and there has to be a comfort you achieve with your fellow actors, director, crew etc... I tend to think it would be unprofessional to ask an actress to have sex with a guy just to make it look real.

Course I may be reading this thread wrong.

Where the **** are you acting where actual sex is asked for by the director (on camera anyway:evil:)

I don't care if it's art, or if it serves the plot or what. If a director wants to show ****ing then they should follow what's in there heart.

Words like 'exploitive' or 'poor taste' 'purient interest' 'self indulgent'? What do those mean? Isn't every film exploitive? Maybe more films would be better if they were a little more self indulgent, instead of written by a commitee.

the ending of Brown Bunny is completley justified. What about Ken Park, Bully, Gummo? I think all their nudity is relevent.

"If you aren't quite sure if what you are doing is right - then it is." -- Robert Bresson

"If you can imagine an image that hasn't existed before, than you should make it." -- Henri-Cartier Bresson.

Also, people have been talking about gratuitous nudity... one person mentioned a scene in 'Dukes of Hazard' I've never seen in but I feel it's safe to assume that it's a pile of ****.....

Moving on, what about 'Vacation' or any good Chevy Chase movie. That scene where his wife is in the shower - the whole point of that scene is its gratuitous nudity. it goes nowhere and, in my opinion, feels a little awkward story wise... like it should have led somewhere, ya know. But who gives a ****. It's like Godard, it's effective because of how self-consciously absurd it is.

So even the most gratuitous nudity has its place.

I like Brown Bunny. I like how it makes you think of how useless so many other sex scenes in movies are; they're usually a bunch of well-lit CU's of fingers caressing soft skin. Some movies like "requiem for a dream" glamorize and sexualize heroin use (just by casting Jered Leto as a junkie is enough), by the CU's and cutting and whatnot. Then you see a movie like 'Christiane F.' or 'Bad Lieutenant' and you see unbroken Long shots of the process and you see how disturbing heroin use is.

It's like those terrorist videos of Al Queda beheading the American's. They are just a camcorder placed on a tripod filming a totally symmetrical frame. The scene goes on for like, 8 minutes (the beheading is only about 30 secs) and it's horrendous. All that cutting and glamorizing, like Last Tango... or 9 1/2 weeks is bull ****.

There's nothing glamorous or sexy about the sequences of drugs and sex in Requiem.

Also if your bringing up the American Beheadings then you should check out (if you haven't already i mean) the rape scene in Irreversible. Same effect.

I'll tell you what Ai no Corrida is completely hypnotising. The explicit sex was part of the story and it served it well. No that's not my arguement. My argument is the morality of it, as in 2 professional people having sex albeit stimulating it - is it right? I'm off to beat some midgets now, bye.
