SETUP (P2) menu option -- 0% or 7.5%

In the menu under CAMERA SETUP, and then under SETUP (P2), you can choose either 0% and 7.5%

What is the difference? Why would I choose one over another?

The instructions were not clear.
 
Barry, are you sure? I believe in the DVX100 that it actually changed the recording, though in an SDX900 it only changes the monitoring.
Only way to tell for sure is to shoot , then import into FCP.
 
There's two different settings, one for P2 and one for tape. The tape setting works like you describe (affects both the recorded-to-tape image and the analog outputs). The P2 setting works the way it SHOULD -- only affects analog outputs, doesn't affect recording.
 
Thanks, that makes sense.
I've also noticed that the optimum pedastel settings for various gammas (to get to "O" cap blacks) are different for SD and DV.
