Settings to use for sports

Although I have not actually shot sports, I would suggest 720 60p mode and close to 120 shutter speed. This would give you pretty smooth motion. Then comes the question of wether you are shooting day games or night. Darkness would throw some wrenches into the mix depending on lighting conditions.

Well night games at any big stadium still have a lot of lighting being poured onto the field. But what is your footage going to be used for? I'd think that make a bigger difference. Are you just shooting and turning in the footage?

I'll be shooting mountain biking. By far it will be the bright outdoors, but an occasional woods shot. I'll be editing it all on my computer into a film.

ive used my cam to shoot a lot of mountain biking. 720 60p works best with a shutter between 120 and 500 - though can get a bit flickery with higher speed shutters, though good if you are really slowing down the footage so you get nice crisp frames. if youre not slowing footage down could get away with 1080 24p (60i) especially with the gh13 hack. if lighting is sufficient, use an aperature closer to f8, as there will be greater depth of field, eliminating out of focus issues.

Thanks Sam. So as far as the hack goes, just use the same settings other people have found to work? I'll probably stick to 720 60p for now.
