Settings to mimic a Canon 5DmkII

The "Color Temp" setting is like not having to remember to dial in the color temp to taste. It adds in a bias towards orange (negative values) or blue (positive values) inherently. Any time you do a manual white balance, it'll figure out what the accurate color temp should be, and then shift the color temp up or down based on what you have the Color Temp setting set to.

Frankly it sounds like it's the ideal setting for this scenario.

I did a quick test adjusting colour temperature for "B". Having it at -1 or -2 didn't do much. Just a tiny bit warmer. When juicing it to -5 I got in the same ballpark as a 5DmkII but this is also pretty strong aberration. Probably one would like to stay between -2 and -5 because -5 is really pushing it.

The way I did it was to WB using a white card and compared what happened when lowering in the menu to how AWB looked. I also compared with VAR and I figured a -2 setting is just 100 to maybe 200 kelvin warmer. Lastly I turned the camera towards my face and made grimaces and looked how my skin tone was with B, AWB and VAR. I have to say in AWB it's way to cool for my liking. I bet -3 to -4 will do the trick if you WB with a white card to get a nice warm skin tone.

Peter (Editman),

Can you tell us what the starting settings were on the Canon 5D2, so that we'll know what you are matching the AF100 to?

I have my 5DmkII set at sharpness all the way down, contrast all the way down and chroma one step down at the neutral setting on the 5DmkII. This is the way I've shot with both my 5DmkII and 7D.
