Good eve'nin,

Ok, remedial stuff Im sure. Im just getting into my learnin curve with FCPstudio. On the capture settings box I have some options. The footage that Ill be importn was shot on a dvx100a set to 24P. So do I just go with the NTSC 48kh setting? I see there is a setting for 24PA with a 3-2-2-3 pulldown.? Which should I use?
Thats my first question, second one is- in laymans terms, what is the practical application of footage shot in 24PA as opposed to footage shot in 24P?

Good karma kudos for all who reply.. though I dont really believe in karma.:undecided

If you shot 24P then, yes, you'll use the NTSC 48kh setting. It will be a 29.97 timeline.

If you shot 24PA refer to the following:

Thanks Blaine although I was hoping for just a nugget more, and by that Ive nothing against blunt edged answers.
I know I should be doing this in the FCP forum but seems how Im here.. well anyone care to elaborate on why it is that some of us choose to shoot in 24p, others 24p advanced, and then horse around with pulldowns switching from 29.97 to 23.97 and back?
No disrespect intended.

Well Im still looking at what people have to say about this subject though Im sure its a worn out topic for many- thanks to some posts in the FCP forum I found a ditty on 24p written by Graeme Nattress at Ken Stone's FCP site wherein he describes rather well the practical applications of 24p edited in both 23.97 timelines and 29.97. I feel a bit better about my grabbing a dvx100a for those options.

anywho thanks dvxuser and all that abide here,
this site has saved a portion of my
sanity--to be destroyed at a later date in some other
manner.

cheers,
Peem
