Hi, I tried out my dad's F2 old 35mm nikon F-mount lenses with the D7100, and all worked good with manual settings.
In the D7100 book, it says to set up Non-CPU Lenses. Do I need to do this, if I am not using a flash with them?
It says it is good for listing info on photo display, and enables color matrix metering.

On Page 150 of the D7100 book it looks to be easy to setup.
What are your thoughts, is this something that you would recommend setting up? And with people with experience using it, how did it work?
Thanks

For photos, it helps. Lets the camera and you know what F-stop you're at, and therefore enables matrix metering. For video, only if you need to know the aperture, vs just eyeing the DOF vs exposure. Only takes like 30 sec to set up per lens, so I don't see a reason not to do it.
