Setting up DVX100a out of the box

I'm using a producer's DVX100a for a shoot, he just upgraded from the DVX100 which I used on the same project last year, and the 100a is really a lot better.

However, I find that the factory default setting for 24p not that great.

Can someone point me to posts here or run down the optimum scene camera setting for shooting with the DVX100a at 24p/24pa. I'm not going to film, I just want a nice film look on regular NTSC video.

Some of the things I'd like to change from the factory 24P scene file include:

- chroma, colors are real dull
- gamma/blacks, seem quite flat
- detail level, very, very soft

Also, is there a way to reduce overall grain/noise especially in underlit areas?

Anyhow, if I can get a quick setup from someone, I could use it as a starting point. There's lots of stuff that you can tweak.

Thanks in advance,

Moe

Hey :)

Are you using f5 or f6?

For the blacks: lower the master ped level to about -5 and see if you like that better

For chroma increase your chroma in the menu to +3 or so

Detail: bump up the detail to at least 0 (Depending on which preset you chose). Go higher as you need to.

Thanks,

I'm using F5, but I think I'm leaning towards creating a brand new setup in F1 or F2 just for 30p shooting and using the F5 settings as a starting point (and any other adjustments from this thread).
