GH5 Setting Shutter speed

Hi everyone, I am shooting still photos in manual mode, I have my shutter speed set to 1/6th of a second. When I press the shutter button that changes to 1/20th. How do I get it to take the photo as 1/6th? The drive dial is set to " M ". I have a gh4 and I dont recall that ever happening.

Any help would be appreciated,

NorBro, Thanks for response, I looked at that video and that function only works when auto iso is set and in Program or aperture priority mode. I am shooting in full manual mode and want certain settings. My gh4 did not do that in full manual mode. I need to be in manual mode with a certain iso set with a ss that I choose. This camera should do that.

Thanks again.

It's probably a weird menu settings or something that's 'on' or 'off' that's changing something. If I had the camera I'd check for you, but I don't.

The only other thing I can think of is some sort of automatic exposure adjusting is still happening because it seems like the system is not in 100% manual mode if it's really changing the shutter speed. Or another form of compensation? Maybe even a drive mode?

Have you checked the EXIF/other data to see if the shutter speed was really changed after you took the photo?

I also saw your question about the flashes...maybe a flash setting is affecting something?

Just brainstorming...

Sometimes cameras have programing errors and strange limitations. For example, you may be in a certain photo mode, and the lowest shutter speed you can actually use is 1/20, but you're still able to cycle through the lower ones. (This is just a made-up example in an attempt to illustrate how quirky cameras can be.)

You obviously also don't want to be in the 'M' movie mode.

I have no idea but my first thought was also to check if there's any menu setting forcing auto exposure adjusting in PSAM mode (that includes manual!). You could also test this by shooting the camera into a pitch black room and see if still adjusts to a faster shutter speed, and then point it at something super bright and see. Check those obscure PSAM settings.

When I get stuck I try other experiments like that, as well as different shutter speeds (does adjustment happen anywhere else, or ONLY on 1/6?). That's valuable information because if it happens everywhere, you know it's probably some setting. If it keeps happening only one specific setting, that narrows things down.

I have a vague recollection of reading something like this, but can't remember where.

If I remember correctly you can save your camera settings to a memory card on the GH4...if you can, do a reset...that will default the camera to factory settings which is a good starting point, and later you can install your current camera settings off the SD

Sorry for the delay in responding, I had shoulder surgery just after that post and this went on the back burner. I messed around with it today a little and just reset it ( gh5 ). Every thing seems to be working fine. Had to be a setting that I made and just didnt know what it really did.

Thanks alot guys, I am a rookie at this and appreciate the help.
