servo zoom function

Quick question to hmc150 owners who know their cameras inside and out: when in servo zoom mode, is it normal to have a little wiggle-room/play in the mobility of the manual zoom ring or is it supposed to be locked solid? When first acquired, I accidentally forced the ring to move when in servo mode and am afraid I am the one to create this "play" in the ring of my camera. Any input appreciated, thanks.
 
A 'little' wiggle is normal. A lot of wiggle isn't.

Also, when moving from manual to servo, if you manually move the zoom until it clicks it will prevent a sudden jolt when you first move in servo mode as it engages automatically.
 
thanks. I get a little wiggle, about .3-.5mm zoom range wiggle. I was wondering about that click too. Maybe my zoom ring is fine after all.
