Servicing?

I have a DVX100 and a Panasonic PV-GS50D. This isnt about the DVX100 but a general inquiry. My GS50D is not working properly now. The trap wont drop when I put a tape in, tells me to hit the reset button and that it neeeds service.

So my question is has anyone sent in a minidv consumer level camera in for servicing? I was wonder what the cost was? This camera was bought about 3 years ago so Ive no clue if its under warranty still
