I am going to be upgrading both hardware and software over the next couple days ( get the search back woohoo! )

Inevitably things will go wonky for a bit, and there may be a couple of hours of downtime.

I am thinking of putting a live chat up that kicks in on the main page when its time for me to bring the forum database down so you diehards can talk to each other still ( the PK live chat thing was pretty cool )

you guys like that idea?
 
Live chat on the main page? But server downtime is my only opportunity to get work done. :)

Sounds good! And thumbs up for un-gimped search.

Yeah that live chat sounds like a nice alternative while the site is down. A big thanks to you Jarred for all the work you do to make this site possible. Looking forward to a more capable search tool as well.
 
Live chat will be even more fun then forums. If you give it to us you may not be able to take it away.

Great work, Jarred. I like the live chat. I actually had to copy the following text because people kept coming in and ****ing freaking out that the site was down.

"Jarred is doing server upgrades. Sit tight. (Unless you are The Dude who for some poo pooing reason can't conform)"

10 words a month? Hmm...a bit more because of this thread now, I would say. Unless you are using a time machine from TimeFest to fast forward a month for each post, in which case I have missed several deadlines. :grin:
 
Wow, things were a bit "wonky." It wouldn't let me post so I send a PM to Jarred and Jason and then all of a sudden I can post again and every attempt in the past five minutes produced a post which meant I had to go delete a bunch. Sorry about that. Ignore my PM. :)
 
ill hold off on the new search engine till round 3... as it is a bit too intensive to query the whole database. things should be ok now :)
 
So Jarred, finally cared to visit your "grown up child", hu? :)

We know you are taking care of your new babies (Red user/scarlet user), but do come and visit us from time to time, like thanks giving and the Holiday Seasons... We miss you over here :) !
