server question

Hi all.

I have a website that has video demo's of my work. For the most part, the speeds have been extremely slow. Lately, the videos will not even finish loading. I called technical support several times (hosting through 1&1), and they were not helpful and said they do not support video.

With that said, I want to find a new place to host my videos and site. I have noticed that when I download videos from people here, the transfer speed is usually really fast, around 300 - 400kbs. Mine seems to stay around 20-40 kbs, and it is frustrating.

I would appreciate suggestions and reccomendations on other places to look for hosting. Thank you!

How are you hosting your video files? (why type of files? etc..)

I use 1and1 for large ammounts of video (and other) hosting without trouble.

I have accounts at 1and1, dreamhost, godaddy, and Hostgator, and ill tell you what, 1and1 support was horrible when i called in asking about my speeds, he transferd me to a level 2 tech support who hung up on me. I got an email later saying that the problem had been fixed, but my files where now going at ~100Kbps, instead of 40. Im sorry, i used to be a 1and1 fan but i no longer am.

Yes, the technical support is awful. All they would say is that they don't support video, or it is my connection speed. They said it can be solved only by getting a dedicated server, which starts at about $99 a month.

My videos range in size, but some that are even around 7 and 10 MB won't even fully load anymore. They are .mov's. Someimtes I will have HD videos that get larger in size, 60 - 80 MB, but I understand they will take longer to download. However, the transfer speed is what is troublesome, when it maxes out at only 35 Kbps or so. It should be much much faster. It is important that people be able to view the videos, so 1&1's lack of help is very troubling.
