I think Film Noir is still gonna invite repetative stuff. It's a very defined genre in terms of lighting style, dialogue, and themes (femme fetale, private eye, etc.).

I love Film Noir. My first short was that. I'm not really anxious to revisit it again either though, and I think I'd get really tired of 60 some of those.

But if the next fest is DramaFest....you can do a Noir short. That's so much better IMHO.
 
I smell drama comin' on.

Am I going to get in trouble for doing Action/Drama? That's what OLD BOY is.

I didn't say it had to be. Look at Sin City, Blade Runner, Brick, etc.

I still think you are going to have way too many repetative themes with noir.

Certainly, but not unlike any other fest we've had here that has certain themes attached to the genre. I was more responding to Versus, who seemed to think we all needed to get 1940's sets built and a bunch of old cars to be Noir.

I like comedy and drama, but those are extremely broad. For comedy we would HAVE to have a column for X-Factor, like "Is it funny."

I hate the idea of requiring specific elements ALA the 48 hr fests. Ick.

I have a Noir short I want to do and may do next anyway. So I may only participate in the next fest if it happens to coincide with something I want to do.
 
i think a general 'drama' idea is much better
that way people are invited to write a drama story but they are not focused in genre.....you can do sports drama, comedy-drama, noir drama, sci-fi drama, horror drama...superhero drama...drama is the essence of the story, the rest is up to you to figure out

we just want you to make us cry :P
 
listen, crying is something that doesnt have to do with good or bad situation, it has to do with each person individually

i cry sometimes with romance which is not tragic but very happy, still it makes me wanna cry

after all I put the :p just to show that I didnt mean it
