GH5 Seriously can't decide. Two gh5 or gh5+gh5s

GH5 + GH5s, no question.

Unless, and only unless, you specifically require two cameras going handheld for a lot of Run'n'gun work with two operators on a shoot, it makes no sense not to get the GH5s.

(Ok ok - there are other reasons - requiring two anamorphics, or two cameras for open gate, etc. -- but the point is, except in rare/odd scenarios it would make best sense to diversify, and in my experience thus far, the "S" is absolutely worth $500 more than the non S. It's phenomenal.)

For those of you who have a gh5s, can you confirm if electronic stabilisation works on non native lenses? It would literally save micro jitters if I were to ever go handheld in a situation with an anamorphic.

It seems online everyone says 'paired with a Panasonic lens'.

Edit. Please check on fully manual mft lens with no electronic connection.

It doesn’t work even paired with a native Panasonic lens unless that lens also includes OIS. There is zero chance of it working with a manual/anamorphic lens. I can only confirm that it works with a Panasonic lens that also includes OIS. It will give relief from micro jitters in that case.

If you want to save micro jitters on the GH5s, get a lens with OIS for those scenarios, and it works well.

Also with heavier lenses, the GH5s actually did pretty well. I tested the GH5s + Speedbooster + Zeiss Milvus handheld, and was pretty sloppy in my shooting as I was out with friends and just messing around, and was surprised how steady the shots were. So, OIS lens or heavy lens is helpful.

Personally don't like to engage EIS as it often leaves undesirable artifacts.

I ended up buying a gh5s. I really wanted the second gh5 but it's difficult buying 2 of the same cameras. I guess use either 1 for different situations and hopefully all works out.

I have loads of canon L glass shop for a metabones XL to go with it.

You are correct, my mistake, I should have written can output 50/60P at 4.2.210-bit. Internal 4.2.2 10-bit recording is capped at 30p and below. Thanks for the correction.
Cheers
But it can record DCI 4K at 60p 4:2:0 internal, and the the only could do UHD.

My choice for the GH5S because of the extra effective dynamic range. This is the biggest boost for me. Just spend another $1K and get a Ronin-M like I did! But I do plan to add another GH5 later this year when I don't want tho wrestle with the Ronin and light levels permit.

I heard the extra dynamic range is in video mode.

Well, that's where it's most desirable for my uses. It's also not a true bump like to 15 stops across all ISO settings, but you get a solid 12-13 stops at the native ISO settings, which gives it a big boost over the GH5 at the same ISO.
