Hi, guys.
There's something that always bugged me about fs700 and odyssey 7q on 4k>ProResHD or 4k>ProRes UHD: skin tones. So I made a test yesterday comparing Odyssey 7q's Prores vs Raw vs Red Scarlet and found this:
1- There's a terrible banding from highlight area of the skin to the shadows. Check the nose area on 4k>UHD image. Until it reaches the shadows, there's a greenish sharp line inbetween.
2- 4k>RAW is much better, though it has a magenta tint that is hard to get rid of. It's easier to match Red Scarlet and 4k>ProRes UHD than Red Scarlet and 4k>RAW.
Is there anyway to fix this skin banding (don't know if it's the right name)? LUTs? Better exposure? I tried underexposing a little and it's always there, the skin problem.
THE TEST, check out the frames:
