Serenity

yea, i got the dvd's a while ago and the unaired episoded are awesome, you should definitely watch.

i'd really like it to turn back into a tv show, instead of movie sequels, though. it sucked when it was cancelled and i'd like to be able to see it every week, not wait for a movie to come out.

The show was truly remarkable. I've been a long time fan of Whedon. I always thought that Buffy was a great show; but yet it was always a progressive work. The show became better as it went on with a few weak spots here and there. And they seemed to need more time to establish the universe. But the interesting thing about Firefly was that I felt it was instantly established. You had so many rich characters right from the start. So many mysteries you wanted to dig into. River's past obviously, but i also found it interesting that Book had a past. I even got the impression that he may not have started out as a preacher. But anyway, having said that, I'm very excited about the film. I hope it at least branches out into a few more films or another tv show. But to be honest, I'm ready to see Joss handle a film that stands on it's own feet. With Serenity it has to stand on the shoulders of the show. Honestly fans of the show will enjoy it much more than people just randomly walking in who know nothing about the show. So it would be really great to see what he does with a movie that has no previous history. Maybe Wonder Woman will be that film.

From what I understand, Benji, Whedon wrote the script so that people who have never seen the show before won't be lost. He's apparently found away to introduce the characters in a new way so that those of us who know them won't be bored senseless.

But I do agree with you that knowing the characters and the series will make the movie much more enjoyable.

What's really sad about Firefly is to see how good it was from the beginning, compared to Buffy's tame first season and the early "Batman" episodes on Angel. Both of those shows were rocking along by their second seasons. Imagine how good the additional seasons of Firefly would have been?

*sigh*

Hadn't watched "Firefly" much; not because I didn't like it -- I just didn't, for whatever reason.

I watched "Serenity." Liked it a lot. Liked it enought to buy the series on DVD.

Bought the series. Watched it something resembling a marathon. LOVED it.

Re-watched "Serenity." This time, I found it pretty disappointing.

Yep. People should do one or the other, but not both.

The film felt like a re-pilot, to get people prepared for a return of the series after a long absence.

Joss said that he did what he set out to do with the story.... ...that still kind of sucks, because I agree with brother Isaac. It could have made a run. I don't know for how long or what would have happened, but the show had heart. I didn't catch it on TV. I had to have one of my friends bash me in the head with it. I kept thinking, "Joss...you mean the guy that wrote Alien 4 and Buffy?" but damned if I wasn't surprised at the way Joss made me love the characters.

didnt look interesting at all to me. looks like a video game halo type. and when the girl fights i just thing wow they needed a better material art training.

Hyler, I'll bet you hate your own penis.

I rented this movie. I gave it a chance. I still think..why didn't they just make a farscape movie? It would've had way better actors, actual original story (not a joss whedon rip off. And I am an early Buffy fan mind you), henson company, better graphics, bigger following. I don't get it.
