seppuku

hm i'm not sure what to say about this
but.

Samurai's did not stab themselves in the heart, but in the stomach and would cut their stomach in a square shape.

what color correction settings did you use to get the stock to look like that? How did you simulate lens vignetting? Did you use magic bullet or something else for your digital intermediary? it's a little on the dark side of exposure is that intentional?

Yes, Samurai disembowel. As far as cinematography goes, the shaky camera was distracting for me plus it is way underexposed. What was your f-stop? F-16? 22? The last shot with what I'm assuming is the title card, is way out of focus. You should always measure your distance in order to assure critical focus. I would have liked to have seen more ceremonial prep for the committing of seppuku. Maybe show closer inserts of the sword, the emotion or non emotion on her face before the committing. Your story has a lot of potential, I'd keep on shooting. What camera did you use for this? This certainly was not shot on a DVX.

actually hdcinema that was a women, and the women has to stab a knife in here heart. it's also known as jigai. my f-stop was about a 4, since i was useing a widescreen lens. funny thing is at the premerie it was lighter then that. it wasn't supposed to be intentional, but the light was **** that day. very gloomy and dark. i shot it with a 16mm bolex camera from the 1930's. it was for a dogme challenge.

Hey, I just found this about "Jigai" on wiki..
This article says jugular (neck) is the way of jigai... who's right?

igai (自害)was a traditional method of ritual suicide for women in Japan. Although the term literally means "self damage" and in principle can refer to suicide in general, in practice it normally refers to the ritual suicide of women by the cutting of the jugular vein with a short sword or dagger. Often, it would be a small dagger hidden within the sash of their kimono. Jigai is the female equivalent of seppuku or hara-kiri, the ritual stomach-cutting suicide practiced by Japanese men. However, unlike seppuku, jigai could be performed without assistance. Since the severing of the jugular vein brought rapid death there was no need for beheading. Although men were expected to stoically bear the extreme pain associated with seppuku, the women were not. Further, this would cause minimum disfigurement of the body.
Before committing jigai, a woman would often tie her ankles together so her body would be found in a dignified pose, despite the convulsions of death. The act was often done to preserve one's honor if a military defeat was imminent, i.e. to prevent rape. Invading armies would often enter homes to find the lady of the house seated alone, facing away from the door. On approaching her, they would find that she had quietly ended her life long before they reached her.

You should do that scene next (women binds ankles and slits throat before military men come to rape her, and find her posed in a pool of blood, facing away from the door)!
Suicide films indeed!

I liked the 'death drawing' in the film, that was cool.

well first since it was a so called dogme i wasn't allowed to see it, but i when i made my others, it went threw a steinbeck for audio, film and music. then their technician roger transfers it to and mac, then proceeds to put it threw final cup pro. edits all the popping of the film.
