Sent to Motion - Want Original Clip Back

In Final Cut Studio, I have a video clip that I sent to Motion to work on.

My Motion tests and work were unsuccessful and I just want to work with the video clip as it originally was.

But back in Final Cut, all I have now in the project is the .MOTN motion file in the video timeline.

There must be a way to just unlink from MOTN and back to the original raw file I sent to motion...

But I have been unable to discover how...

Man, this really seems like something the fine resident experts at DVXuser would have no trouble with..... :)

You have no other video clips in the project other than the motion clip?

Have you attempted to reimport the original clip from your project folder?

It was the only version in the timeline. I didn't know I would be unable to recover it, so I didn't bother to duplicate.

I could reimport, but the audio and video sync were off, so I had put a reasonable amount of work into re-syncing and finding the right in and out point to the exact frame...

I usually duplicate the shot in the timeline if I'm not sure I'm going to use the clip resulting from Motion. But it hasn't 'gone anywhere.' It's still in the bin or wherever on your hard drive you got it from. And yeah you'll have to resync it- but you live and learn...

when i send to Motion, it creates a new sequence in FCP with the original clip, while placing the motion clip in the sequence you sent it from. grab it from new sequence that was generated.

There isn't.
Next time deselect the "EMBED MOTION CONTENT" box in the Send to Motion dialog box. 'Embed Motion Content' imports the new Motion project back into Final Cut Pro and replaces your selected sequence clips. It is a one way trip.
Dony you have Auto Save vault in your Scratch Disk Folder? Dig it and find an older sequence that has your original clip, simply copy it from there to your current sequence.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I will try them out with cautious optimism and prepare for the worst.

Appreciate the help.
