Sent a message to Panasonic's Facebook for 24p Firmware...

I know a petition has been setup already, but since Panasonic has a Facebook page and since it looks like they do reply to some people I sent this message:

Bought a GH1, Body Only, at $350 it's a bargain, but it would be the bargain of the century if it shot 24p native and had a higher bitrate.

It's been proven the camera can do both, PLEASE release a new firmware that give us the option to shoot true 24p not wrapped in 60i and max avchd bitrate.
And got this reply:

Hello C.r.M, we take all suggestions and recommendations seriously. Any future firmware can be found at the below site.
And gave me the link to the stock firmware update page. Not a real answer, BUT...somebody did answer. Maybe if more people left similar messages something might happen.....hint, hint...

Posted something as well, but I really don't think it's worth holding our breath about. I honestly don't think that they care...

It is NOT gonna happen. Panasonic did not do anything about it when GH1 was a hot seller, they will definitely won't care about it when it is officially discontinued. Also, why would they release a firmware which would potentially create issues for GH2 sales ?

I've been nagging them about 25p whenever they or someone mentions the GH2. I get the response "we will pass this onto our engineers.." which i believe to be just a generic customer service reply. Now if we all get together as a collective and just spam them up the wall daily from a large number of users to the point where any news they post gets thrown on a tangent back to the GH2. For example... oh yeah this new product looks good but 25p on the GH2 would even be better!

From what I have seen, it almost looks like someone who gives a crap has taken over Panny Direct. On Facebook they admitted the wait for the backordered GH2s was "too long" and prior to that when I tried to find their fans only page, they responded back with the "secret directions" and then ultimately made a visible link for it on their page. I had beeched about it one time before that, heard ZERO back. Since their contact with me on Facebook, there seems to be "some change".

Yeah it's pretty much up to you to buy a GH2. You're asking for an old diesel car to be converted to unleaded for free just because the new cars use unleaded. Not too likely :)
