Sennheiser Wireless Snapping

Hey All-

I own a g2 series transmitter and receiver and lately it's been snapping a lot. It is an older unit. I recently repaced the microphone (it died), but now the snapping is pretty bad. Any ideas what it is? Is it just age?

Many thanks,

Stan

Depends on what you mean by "snapping". Any chance you can post a quick sample?

It could be a short.

It could be a disconnect in the antenna, causing loss of reception and lots of RF hits.

Without hearing, it's hard to tell.

Are you using a locking sleeve in the connector of the replacement mic? This is the first place I would look. Without the locking sleeve, the connector does not provide a solid fit, and is prone to cracking, popping, and drop-outs.

Sounds like RF interference. Make sure you scan for clear channels on the receiver wherever you are shooting. A clear channel that was fine at say your studio a mile away can have interference. Also, and I know these devices operate on different frequencies but make sure cell phones are TURNED off. Or at least put them in "airplane mode" so they are sending/receiving a cell signal.

Yes its probably rf interference or the plug has come a bit loose so the mic plug has intermittent connections that cause pops.
