Sennheiser MKE2 on Zoom H4

Just checking the options for a possible 5D kit:
Is there a another way of directly attaching the MKE2 (with the miniplug from the G2 wireless system) to the H4, than buying the insanely expensive Sennheiser XLR adapter/converter...?
I read that some people just use H4s like they would use a wireless transmitter, attaching it directly to the interviewee - what options are there?

Right know I`m thinking of just running my two G2s into the Zoom, thus going wirelless again...

Is there a collective thread about HDSLR audio setups...?

I think that XLR adapter has electronics in it that convert it for use with 48v phantom power, so unless you want to fry your lavs, you should get it.
