Sennheiser me66/k6 w/ Softie in Frame

I read the "Best Shotgun Mic" thread on 2-pop and decided to purchase the me66/k6 shotgun with a Rycote softie. It works great, but when I use it with Panasonics supplied shotgun holder it gets in the frame.

I read that some people were using the same rig and not getting the mic in the frame. How are you doing this?

Should this be a problem, I'm going to purchase the attachment for the accessory shoe; however, I already own an iLight so I'll need a shoe extender to hold both the mic and light. Any recommendation there? Hopefully, I can get the mic out of the frame with the stock Panasonic holder.

Thanks!

I bit it and bought the Lightwave minimount, with the 2" extender. My me66 is wrapped in a Lightwave miniscreen and mini windmaster, which is similar to the rycote. This lifts it up out of the frame, and keeps it pretty well shockmounted, as opposed to the stock mount. Plus, it gives enough clearance to clear my mattebox.

how are you all seeing those links? Everytime I click on them it says website is not responding. I want to see what your talking about because I am getting my shotgun mic by the end of the month.

Sometimes the links are scripted to IP addys. Do a search on B&H for NRG tri mount. The mounts are located under the the following B&H string:

Home>Consumer Video>Camcorders & Assc.>General Camcorder Assc>Camcorder Brackets

It's about $24 and holds up to 3 shoe assc. I'll be purchasing this baby, today, on my way to the office. I've decided to return the blue-green screen I purchased along with the mount for it in exhange for this, a Gitzo boom pole and proper audio grip wear.

Re: Sennheiser me66/k6 w/ Softie in Frame

I bought the NRG Tri-Mount, today and it's terrific! I'm using the lowest shoe for the mic and the highest shoe for the light and it fixed my framing problem. I still have a third shoe left; however, I believe putting something into it will shift the weight of the camera. I tried different positions with Light and Mic and the one I mentioned above is definately the best one. Again, left-to-right balance if fine, but front-to-back is definately skewd to the front a little bit.
