Get A-band. 600MHz is going to be going away, and while G-band runs from 566MHz to 608MHz, it's not yet known if the 600MHz auction will include higher 500s.
"what range should I buy one now for use in the USA?"
- I would certainly avoid Block B - 626-668 MHz (TV channels 40-47), which leaves block A or G... Where in the USA? For RF hell holes, a external scanner would be wanted with either.
The new AVX system could be considered if frequency selection and set up scares you.
Thank you. I figured A Band (516-558Mhz) was the best option but wanted to check with you guys since you know much more. I am mainly in the south - Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri.
The new AVX system looks interesting. How do you guys like it compared to the old G3?
From what I see, TV channel 23 (524-530) is vacant in the Joplin MO area, and three or four other TV channels have very weak signals (-80dB at least) which would give you alternatives in Block A for that area. Prior to a shoot, I would recommend consulting the Sennheiser/FCC on-line frequency finder if you don't have an external RF scanner.
