Sennheiser G2 vs AT 1800

Which one is better you think ?? By the time you get 2 of the G2, its gonna be close to the price of the AT 1800.

The AT1800 is so new that they are no definitive reviews on them yet. It also have diversity and a double channel system. The G2 is so tired and proven that, it is a veteren on the field. I wish Sennheiser would come up with the G3 Evolution that feature Diversity. I guess they were too busy selling the G2 out the door as it is now, so why bother ??

So, in this battle between the AT 1800 vs the G2, which one is the clear winner ??

Don't get so hung up on diversity vs. non. If you check the posts that discuss diversity, you will see that it is only one part of the wireless quality equation. Second, the G2 series does have a diversity option - but in a base station format rather than a portable Rx. Without being able to do a pure A/B comparison, no one can say whether one or the other is a clear winner. If you want a clear winner, go with Lectrosonics or Zaxcom. I would say that either one would be a clear winner against either system. I don't even need to do an A/B comparison to make that call.

Bottom line in my opinion is this: You know (especially if you've done your homework here and read the archives) what the positives and negatives are for the G2, and the AT is an unknown quantity. Go with safe and go with the G2.

That is my direction which i am leaning now. 2x G2 with sanken cos 11's. Since I am going to work out of my bag, I dont have the problem of mounting 2 receivers on the camera body like a lot of people face.

I know the lectrosonic is the best but at $2500 for the 400 series, that is 5x the cost of the G2. Also, wireless is my last last resort, after all wired solutions have been exhausted.

Some people over at dvinfo.net and RAMPS have been testing and reporting on their 1800 experience. So far I have read nothing unexpected for the price point. Search those forums yourself to see but I would stay with the G2 recommendation for a cheap wireless solution.

Cheers

check yje mipro , they are in same quality as the g-2 but they do have devercity recievers , the tx isa bit big but it can work for you .
