Sennheiser G2 Transmitter Mute (design flaw?)

Hey everyone,

I own a Sennheiser G2 wireless system. The only major design flaw I can think of is the external mute switch on the transmitter. I wish they would have put it on the inside of the battery compartment because I'd hit the switch using the mic once as "talent."

Is there ANY way to disable this switch other than carving/pulling it out? The LOCK menu option doesn't seem to work.

It's not a design flaw at all - it's there so the wearer can operate it. If it was inside the battery compartment it would be utterly useless as a mute switch! It would definitely be a design flaw if was in the battery compartment.

The SK 300 G3 has a programmable mute with a remote switch, which can be more useful.

I have never hears of anyone switching a G2 mute by accident, ever. Buy you can always stick tape over it.

Thanks everybody, I will see if the mute switch problem is prevented with some gaffer's tape.

John, you just heard from me that I switched it off by accident while wearing it. It only happened once in the two years I've owned it but I have some major shoots where there's no second takes coming up where I don't want that to happen.
