Sennheiser G2/G3 case ideas?

In my new job, I'm now in charge of a TV/Film production college program and in our equipment room, we have 4 G2 transmitter/receivers with a mix of mics ranging from Sanken COS-11, Sennheiser MKE-2, and some standard Sennheiser ME2s... each set is just in a soft pouch but the transmitter & receiver and microphone are all just tossed in the pouch and can scratch each other and put tension on the cabling. Does anybody have a simple solution for protecting the transmitter, receiver, mic, and XLR cable w/o having to go to a small pelican case? I'd like some kind of soft case solution... what do you all use?

Thanks!

Zip up pencil cases have worked well for me... I found some 'see thru' versions.
put each kit in its own pouch and perhaps number them if there are many units, to ID the TX and RX of each unit I have put a tiny bit of heat shrink of various colours on the antenna for easy identification.

Why the aversion to a hard case?

I use pocket tackle boxes from the sporting goods store to organize lavs and lav accessories, but I put those and the wireless systems into a small Pelican. I know you specifically said "without having to go with a small Pelican," but they really do offer great protection.

Many if not most of the small camcorder cases have adjustable hook and look dividers and you can purchase additional dividers as needed. Think Kata or Petrol. CaseLogic makes some dedicated microphone cases on the cheap that would probably work ok, though they aren't as good as Kata and Petrol overall.

Generally I prefer soft luggage as I don't fly, but still go with a small Pelican with pluck foam for my audio kit. For this type of gear, there is nothing better. The small ones aren't expensive, probably less than a Kata or Petrol soft case with extra dividers. I have a 1520 Pelican I use for audio that came with a removeable soft case with shoulder strap and hook and loop dividers, maybe that could be a nice middle ground. Mine is older older but similar to this:

Thanks everyone, great advice. I think I'll go with a hard case after all. I like that cheap one! Thanks for the link Paul!

So does the Plasti Dip help keep the pic 'n pluck foam from separating? Interesting idea...

I use the Pelican 1120 size case. I find it fits the TX/RX perfectly when you put them on their sides: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/150614-REG/Pelican_1120_000_110_1120_Case_with_Foam.html

Also, for the lav microphone, I bought a small plastic headphone box off ebay for $1 or so: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Plastic-Hea...er_Cell_Phone_Accessories&hash=item4606409733

Spray the foam with some Plasti Dip and you've got a nice little box for your sets to live in.
