Sending clip over the internet ?

Is it possible to send a clip to a client using yousendit.com? I have a client asking if we can record a single clip about 3 minutes long and then send them the file over the internet. Would this work or are there any other options?

dropbox is great for this type stuff. Very easy for the client to install, and once they install it they dont have to do anything again. Once you upload a file it uploads and downloads into their folder without any intervention from them, and then they get a "growl" notification when something has been added to their folder. They even have a video to show you how to use it.

2GB limit, but you can buy 50GB and 100GB as well. I use it all the time. I hope this adds an viable alternative for you.

I use Yousendit.com all the time. I have clients who are not allowed by their IT departments to install anything like dropbox on their computer. With yousendit they get an email with a link, which takes them to a download page. click on the link the file downloads to their computer. It works best with single files, so make a QT before sending it. I have never tried to send a P2 file structure, but in theory you could, as long as they can reassemble it.

I am sure yousendit works fine, I have never used it so I cannot comment. Most of my clients are ok'd for a tiny dropbox install. Another thing that I would like to point out about dropbox is that it allows bandwidth throttling so if you need to do other wok on the web while you are uploading a 2gb or so clip your internet does not slow to a crawl. Either one would work, it just depends on the feature set you need.

Good luck.

I was just experimenting with you send it, is it possible to send the whole folder or do I have to send each file individually? Will that be complicated on the other end or do they just recreate a folder with all the files in it?

you can use dropbox without installing the software.

also if it's a one file, you can download the file using a link without registering to dropbox.

the software is an added feature.

Zip the folder and it becomes one file.
