Send external mic to both channels?

I have my external mic plugged into ch2.
How do I get it to override ch1 as well and record onto both channels at the same time?
I was able to that on the Panasonics- but i can not find a setting on the Sony
to make this happen.

Why? Just fix it in post... if you want to monitor only CH2 then change the monitor setting.

I plug my mic in CH1, monitor CH1 and have CH2 set to the on camera mic.

Hope this helps, cheers.

You need to plug your mic into Channel 1 and in the menus flip it so that CH1 is your audio input not ch1/ch2. I forget the exact terminology but it's the last setting in the audio input menu.

Why, Tudex? A good reason would be to record one channel less hot than the other. So that if your talent decides to get a little loud you have another channel to fall back on. An old trick that cansave quite a few hours in post! Although the brickwall limiter in the new firmware is damn good it's still best to have undistorted audio to fall back on.

Wait wait wait, you can record to both channels at the same time using different audio levels for each of them? That really sounds great :D.

I will check that out, thanks!

Yep, comes in very handy as Adam pointed out.
