Send broken camera to Panasonic or someone else?

We had a Panasonic HPX170 fall from a jib on a recent shoot and need to get it repaired (broken zoom knob and broken bottom plate). It's not covered by warranty, obviously, and my first thought is to send it to Panasonic for repairs, unless someone has another business they like to use to fix broken cameras. Any thoughts, experiences or advice would be appreciated. Thank you. -- Thomas

Hello Thomas,

We’re an authorized Panasonic Service center. The majority of P2 cameras (HVX200’s, mostly) we see are cameras that took a spill. It happens!

With your HPX170, we can certainly take a look at it and depending on the extent of the damage, repair it or defer to Panasonic directly. You would receive an estimate from us first, and the minimum is one hour labor (basically the time spent evaluating the problem and putting together the estimate). Please feel free to give us a call for more information.
