F3: Selling my PMW-F3 (just testing the waters)

I admit, I'd like to purchase a PMW-F5, but the F3 would have to go!

This would be just for Australian buyers (most likely on eBay) but since the value of the F3 is going south fast, what would be a realistic price for the following?
* PMW-F3L with standard accessories (160 hours user time)
* Improved optical sensor unit (dust proof!)
* 2x Sony BP-U60 batteries (dozen charges each)
* Sony BC-U1 charger
* 2x Swit batteries for F3 (with D-Tap)
* CBK-RGB01 s-log already installed

Perhaps I may have to include something else to sweeten the deal. If I could afford an F5 I'd just have both cameras.

I look after my equipment to obsessive extremes, so the buyer would receive an 'as new' camera. So, feedback much appreciated. :)

In North America you might expect $7500 - $8000 for all that, and down under maybe $500-$1000 more. But in the end it all comes down to finding a buyer and working out a deal with them if they are interested in the your package.

If you want to get the most $$ for your F3 clean it really well and take some high resolution professional photos of it. A picture says a thousand words. List it on DVX and dvinfo in the appropriate marketplace section. You can also list it in a dedicated thread on the Sony F3 forums I created which gets some traffic.

Ebay can be okay for generating leads but hidden fees will easily eat up to 11% commission of the final sale price, but you have to check fees for your country. They may vary.

Good luck with your sale, the F5 is kick ass and you will love it, and it will last you for ages. :happy:

I think starcentrals pricing is a little on the high side. If you are looking at eBay, all you need to do is look at the completed sales.
Recent prices: $5700, $6200 (didnt sell), $4800, $7800(didnt sell), $7500(didnt sell)

i think you'd be hard pressed to get anymore than $6k.

Hi Peter,

I'm not looking for a second camera at the moment, but I'll take the CBK-RGB01 upgrade off your hands this week if you'll part with it?

4 batteries alone are worth what, $750-1000? (I just sold two BP-U60's for $240 each), a mint F3 $6000 - 6800 on the high side, RGB upgrade, etc... Plus his is 160 hours, private use only.. you can't just price compare on ebay IMO.

Also regarding ebay you can't necessarily look at the statistics because what it can't track are the deals happening off ebay. I purposely listed mine there for the leads but encouraged anyone to buy my F3 directly I would cut a deal.

In the end something is worth whatever someone is willing to pay and if for any reason you convince someone yours is better than the next guy ie. Low hours, single owner, not rental unit, no damage, no repairs or history, etc..

In Canada selling a used F3 was very hard due to demand being low but I took my time and spent a lot of time on each lead I generated. I got more for my F3 than current market conditions at the time. Anything is possible and it helps if you're not in a hurry.

One sad thing is how the F3 dropped in a hurry. In December last year I had two serious offers for around $10,000 each. (Camera body only) but I turned them down as I wanted to own a camera for another three months until the new F's were shipping.

...you will also recoup more money selling everything separately if you're willing to deal with the hassles. Anyone buying a kit wants a deal, "they are doing your a favour". :huh:
