Selling my new DVX 100B

Im considering selling my new DVX100B.....mint condition. Purchased from www.bhphoto.com 06-01-07

Since I only shoot weddings, and special events, Ive found the DVX100b is "not" the best cam for my work. I should have purchased a Canon GL2 or equiv.

Ive shot one wedding and one school event. Probably not more than 4-6 hrs total cam use. Cam was "not" used for capture.

I have Cam, UV protective filter, two 3.6hr batteries, and one 5.6 hr battery. I have a hard-shell case, but will save that for another cam....probably.

I estimate my purchase cost of cam and accessories above at $2850.00

Have original packing box, users manual and Barry Green's book.

Im located in S. Indiana near Evansville, IN and Owensboro, KY...should someone in the area like to see the cam.

Anyone interested please email jeff@downsouthstudio.com and make offer.

I will only sell to someone on this DVXuser group since they understand the creative capabilities of the DVX100b and the learning curve needed to take full advantage of the cam.

Thanks,
Jeff

Just curious as to why you think a GL2 would be better? Having used both extensively for live events, I can't see any advantage to the GL2...?

I like the ease of use and the telephoto lens on my GL1 for live events. Im assuming the GL2 is about the same.

I want to stick with simple point/shoot type work and the Canon GL1/GL2 makes great video and easy to use. Great in low-light, telephoto, and auto-mode.

Just feels right for my work.

I see... telephoto and perhaps auto make sense! The DVX is significantly better for low light, though! Good luck!

How much are you looking for?

I am searching the current pricing at "reputable" dealers.

I would want to sell "with" the accessories that I have, batteries, UV protective lens etc.

Should have a firm sell price by tomorrow.

Hi Jeff.
I too was a bit overwhelmed with the DVX when I got one several years ago.
There are some things to learn. Get Barry's DVX book and DVD and play with it a bit.
You'll grow to love it! I promise.
I know I'm not going to talk you out of this if your mind is made up.
But I suggest you hang on to that baby for another month or so until you are familiar with it's features and friendliness.
It really is the best camera for just what you want to do.
My 2 cents.
Regardless, good luck.

The dvx book is expensive but its a great book if you want to learn every detail , function and ways of functioning:)
Learning what you have is good experience.

You didnt think that something as simple as that would keep a group of people from crapping in Jeff's sale thread, did you? Forum members aren't known for their post reading skills.

Thanks Sherman...

I may have to hold on to it.........Im certainly not going to "give it away"...it's hard to sell used equip at any "fair" price. Even in "mint" condition like this one. But I will see what the offers bring in......then decide.

Thanks to all for your input.......you're a great bunch.

Jeff
