Although he had a great experience, I am fairly certain that BuyDig is not an authorized Panasonic dealer, that may or may not matter to some.

I guess it's unanimous - everyone wants to "savethestars". Having a kids - my wife and I call it the "big gig". We thought, hell, we're both professionals, traveled the world, been in charge of mega-budget projects, what the hell's a little baby - cake-walk... NOT! We were in way over our heads - big time! After 101 hours of back-labor, over 6 months of colic, a year and a half of postpartum depression and a stress level to make your head snap, we survived... and damn it's great now. There is a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Hang in there. And yes, as some have stated, there is a major learning curve to the DVX - I just got back from my 4th shoot where I'm still using my XL1, for I can't seem to feel comfortable with the DVX yet (and the colors aren't very warm either). But I'll get there. Guess what I'm getting at - your in a very trying time where everything seems overwhelming. You'll get through the newborn stage, and the next stage and the next. Our daughter has been one of the toughest gigs I've every experienced, but now... she's one of the most joyous and inspirational beings on the planet. Hell, she just inspired a TV pilot I'll be producing this summer called "Pardon My Post-Frickin'-Partum" - where do you think that idea came from. And yes, I plan on shooting it on the DVX.

Best of luck to you - I mean it,
Dale

Its funny how this thread went from "should I sell my camera" to "money doesnt necessarily bring happiness"

Thanks for all the replies. Wow Evergene, 5 kids! I can't imagine! Good luck with whatever you do with the DVX100A.

Americans are wrapped up in a consumer cycle where we buy more and more and have a need to make more money. That means we are almost all constantly working.

I backpacked through 11 countries after film school and I couldn't believe how many people thought most Americans were rich and lazy. I don't know the numbers but I wouldn't be surprised if Americans worked more days than the population of most developed countries and have fewer days of vacation off and thus, fewer days to find time to do creative projects the likes of those made with the DVX100A.

But somehow people find time to get it done. One of my favorite writers, Ron Carlson, once told me that you just have to make time to create, (write), no matter how much you work on the day job and in addition to devoting a lot of time to your family.

Sometimes it seems that if you want to get serious about shooting video or writing or doing whatever artistic expression you enjoy, you have to simply walk away from a stable but utterly unrelated job. (But being unemployed or even employed "on and off" can be its own great source of stress) Iamloser--you're right, you should love your work--but how many people can truly say they love their job? Not many, I bet. A lot of jobs, such as the typical office job, are full of mind-numbing tasks a robot could better do such as sorting, filing, copying memos, shuffling around endless amounts of redundant paperwork, (can you tell I work for the State?), and blah blah blah.

But I got my DVX100A, thanks to the support of my girlfriend, and now that I have it it would be defeating to get rid of it before doing something with it.

I have these 20 tapes that I bought already, so I've decided to fill them up with work and see what I can come up with.

Nice discussion,

Thanks again.

Yeah, I'm rich. I stopped eating lunch out long ago to get my film gear. I drive a Honda Civic (my wifes old car and I gave up my Jeep Cherokee so she could have a brand new XTERRA.). Lazy? I too have heard the myth of the LAZY AND FAT AMERICAN.

I started my own company 2 years ago. My wife started her own company 6 months ago. I have a 4 year old son. I try and stay fit with working out and ball...

Oh yeah, I try and squeeze in my film junkie fetish.

I read an article where it showed the statistics of America against other countries in days off, hours worked, etc etc and YES, America was tirelessly in first place. I dont agree with it. I hate working and love playing.

Although I'm a fairly fit dude; since when is it a crime to not starve? Sorry, Im ranting. I sometimes just trip on the "Hating Americans" banter. I guess if youre a Shite? :P

Im glad you are keeping the DVX. You will remember this day!

To all: Believe me, I appreciate your support and encouragement on keeping this camera, but I just have too many expenses in my life now and must sell. I know I will be back on this board with a new DVX100 in the future...Thanks for everything!
