Here's another update on the upcoming Blue Ocean Film Festival.
The deadline for submitting films is past. However, you still have a chance to get face to face with film/network commissioners from around the world.
Among the major hitters attending the festival will be:
Paul Gasek- Discovery Channel
Bridget Whalen- National Geographic Channel
Charles Nordlander- History Channel
Fred Kaufman- Nature/WNET
Many more commissioners will be there as well.
The festival is really geared toward those of us in the industry. There are opportunities to sit down face-to face with some of the most sought after non-fiction commissioners and development executives in the industry. There will be speed-pitching sessions and mentoring opportunities. And, because Blue Ocean Film Festival is being held in such an intimate setting you never know who you will run into and meet on the street.
In addition, you will see the greatest collection of new ocean films in existence today. At last count we had more than 200 films entered in the competition side of the event. Some of the work is absolutely breathtaking. The images and stories are the best you will find anywhere.
For those interested in learning about underwater filmmaking this is the place to be. Amphibico will be on hand providing tips on how to make your next underwater adventure the best it can be.
The producer's of Disney Nature's new film EARTH will be on hand to screen their film and talk about what it took to bring the story to the big screen. Plus, Disney's execs will be on hand to show clips and talk about their next big hit OCEANS which premiere's next year.
Blue Ocean Film Festival is THE place to be this summer. To learn more about it please visit http://www.blueoceanfilmfestival.org/
It's a festival for those of us who love the oceans and is built on the model of a Sundance and Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival.
I hope to see you in Savannah, June 10th-14th, 2009.
