sell 5D MKII for buy a 7d?

Hi,
i just done another test 7d Vs 5D MkIi.
I have a 7D, but I think it have less resolution and less dynamic range than 5D MKII when I wacth the footage on TV hd.

what do you think if I sell 7D fot a 5d MkII?

Yea, it's 'rumored' to come out in October with a small possibility sooner then who knows how hard it will be to get for the first month or two or more.
 
footy with the 7 that is IN FOCUS off a decent monitor is better than footy that is OOF with a bad monitor !

They are both compromised -stick with what you have !

seriously - have any of you tried pulling focus on a monitor with the two cameras side by side

I love the 5d but..

I'm with the "What's so good about the 5D III?"

Do we know anything about it? Why it might be better (at video) than the 5D II?

No, not a whole lot, new auto focus, new sensor (prob the MKIV sensor but I'm just guessing) is all I know for now but the 'rumored' RAW module might come into play on this cam, again, it's just a rumor for now.

The 5d MkIi isn't better better than 7d, but still better...
Same light, same lens, same tv HD.

After seeing the Zacuto Shoot out I am very happy with my 7D. 11 out of 13 stops is a big deal for me. Even if you step up to the 5dII you still inherit the same if not more of the same problems. Don't get me wrong the 5D is what it is. A monster, but at this point I can't see dishing out more money when if the rumors are right a better 5D is right around the corner. I'll wait and push the 7D to it's limit. By then you might even see a scarlet on the horizon. Patience is definitely a virtue. My gooal is to push for SkyWalker Ranch type footage from my 7D. If I can get there what would I need to step up for. I'll just wait, save my doe for the Scarlet.

Sure the 5d has a better image IMO

But using it in practice trying to focus with a 480p output to the monitor makes aquisition of focus a great challenge compared to the 720p output from the 7d

to me a reasonably clear idea of what I am shooting is a critical element in the joy of shooting

another thought - I dont know the OPs budget - but he certainly should not do this unless he already owns a full set of peripherals - sound recorder, proper tripod head. decent monitor etc

Edit - ooops - I thought the OP wanted to go from 7 to 5 - I have been arguing not going from 5 to 7, yes he should go from 5 to 7 !! !

It'd be great if we had wars about who's production is better than the other guys. Now that's some good stuff. Nah, just cameras.

MkII came out 3 years after the original. If that happens again it could be late 2011 by the time the Mk III arrives.
 
MKIII is already slated on the Canon books for an October 2010 release but it has not been made public.
 
Can a firmware update to the MKII up-rez the output to 720p?
I imagine they can give us the live audio meters during record.
If we can get a 720p upgrade- not much of reason to go with a MKIII unless they
add headphone out and XLR's and then it's camcorder- so I would guess not.
