VaricamLT: Selecting different color profiles is changing ISO automatically

Finally got my LT a couple weeks ago and am still getting acquainted. Loving it! One thing that that has me scratching my head is why changing the color profiles in camera changes the ISO?

I obviously get that for example V-look1 and V-look2 are supposed to look different as they are different color profiles, but I was confused when I was looking in the viewfinder cycling through the looks and the image exposure would change significantly. At one point I set it to V-look1 IS800, then switch to V-log. Hit 'HOME' and ISO was now 1600. Another time I started at 800 ISO in V-log, switched to V-look2 and the image dropped in exposure, and saw ISO set itself to 400.

But just now I went from V-log to V-look1 and the ISO remained the same. Is something buggy going on or is there a relationship I am missing?

Same thing happens on mine. I've noticed that the WB will change as well...My guess is the camera saves the current ISO/WB to each scene file.

Perhaps Mitch can chime in when he has some down time at NAB. I wonder if this is something that can be changed via firmware?

Hmmm I will check on mine when I get a minute. Haven't used colour profiles at all with the exception of self created ones.

I'm not really sure and I'm too frazzled from NAB to figure it out in my head. I'll ask the engineers about what's going on.

Sorry for slow reply. Been a bit busy. I had an in depth look at scene files on my LT and found the following:

Ok so here is how it works. When you go to Scene files the first time they are basically as released by factory. It's important to note that includes ISO and WB. Whenever you using a scene file in the real world these are two things you would normally check and change.

Now, if you alter the ISO or WB of a scene file it will remember it. This means if you simply cycle through each of the scene files and update ISO and WB, switch the camera off, those settings will be retained for the next time you use them. In short, when changing a scene file, ISO and WB are not independent of them so they will revert to what was last used.

If you want to cycle through scene files to see the difference in look, first update the ISO and WB for each then cycle through.

EDIT TO ADD: So, no, it's not changing them "automatically", it just stores the ISO and WB of the scene file as last used.

Thanks for the detective work Noel! And that totally makes sense, as it would be a huge pain to switch to a different look, switch back and have lost all the settings you just made.

If you don't mind one more question, because I doubt it warrants its own thread...

I have noticed that ONLY in 2k444, the 'FPS' in the top left corner of the HOME screen disappears, making VFR inaccessible. I guess the most obvious answer is that the 2k444 data rate is too great and therefore no VFR options are available? It just seemed strange that it wouldn't even allow you to undercrank below 23.98. And that every other flavor 2k ProRes 4444XQ, 4k422 etc allow at least going to 30fps.
