Scooters are fun and safe , depends on how stupidly you ride it , even a Big MC can become death trap if rode crazy - I rode a 49cc 2-wheel scooter to a BIKE RALLY from SW Virginia to Myrtle Beach in 2005 (spring ) and was welcome there like any other biker, I'm getting a 49cc TRIKE come August , A BIKER IS A BIKER (scooter or Motorcycle) ,I've owned and rode bothSorry, but I've been riding motorcycles for 20 years, and my scooter, being lighter, is much more nimble than my 1520cc motorcycle. Hands down.
your wrong there , if scooters are like go-karts then why do most states tag them as MOTORCYCLES ??????? and US DOT id plate also reads as MOTORCYCLE CLASS ????Sorry, bikes are bikes and scooters are scooters.
Just like cars are cars and go-carts are go-carts.
I ride both and both are BIKES , if you look into history the FIRST H-D MOTORCYCLE was a 49cc Bike with peddles and did 25 mph ,Guess you'd call the first HARLEY a go-kart lmfao :grin:The state's lumping of motorcycles and scooters into the same administrative class does not make them interchangeable, in the real world.
The fact that motorcycle riders are generous and welcome scooter riders into their fold does not make them interchangeable, either.
The critical differences between scooters and motorcycles have been discussed earlier in this thread; if you are really interested you can read them.
ok , but new scooters have larger suspensions ,disc brakes f/r comparable to most 150cc street Bikes as far as step thru configuration that was an Italian motorcycle manufacturers concept for a WOMANS BIKE (easy to get on wearing a dress ) , Didn't mean to start an argument .Sad Max said:By present day standards I would call it more of a motorized bicycle, or moped, than a go-kart.
Hey, if you find that little donut wheels on a scooter are the same as the larger, grippier, better heat-dissipating tires on a motorcycle, if you think that a step-through configurations allows you to grip and hold a scooter with your legs and knees the same way that you can grip a bike, if you think that the small brake pads on a scooter are as safe and efficient at braking and heat-transfer as a motorcycle's, if you think that short-travel scooter suspensions are equivalent to the longer-travel suspensions on the average motorcycle, and if you believe that the handlebar-rider geometry of the average scooter permits the same front-end control under hard braking as a full-size motorcycle...
...well, America is a nation of many faiths, and ultimately people are free to believe as they like, regardless of the available facts, regardless of the realities of physics, engineering, or anything else.
The important thing is that you're on two wheels.
Didn't mean to start an argument .
