SEL18200 E Mount Lens to purchase with FS700?

Hello all,

I have decided to buy FS700 after reading all your discussions and praises about it :-)

CVP in U.K is also selling the SEL18200 E Mount Lens along with the camera. I already have Tokina 11-16 Nikon version. So is it worthwhile buying this lens?

Or what other lens is recommended? This camera will be used mainly as a C camera in a feature film with the Defy G5 gimbal for dynamic shots and of course slow motion :-)

My other purchase would be the O7Q

Many thanks for your advice

depends on your work. I used it more often than I expected.
For run&gun with autofocus there are not so much (almost no) alternatives.

I guess it depends on how you are going to use it, but personally I would avoid E-Mount lenses and go with a Metabones and Canon zooms; and for Primes I use Nikon mount Zeiss.

The reason is E-Mount lenses only work on Sony cameras. Manual Nikon mount works on any camera and Canon electronic aperture / mount is compatible with Sony, Canon, RED and BMC, so while you may pay more money up front, you are future proofing and saving money in the long run.

Plus, optically, Canon zooms are excellent and obviously Zeiss is really good. Might want to do some research on E-mount image quality. Check out www.photozone.de, they do excellent lens tests and I believe they have tested quite a few E-Mount lenses.

i'd second that. pretty useful lens for events and runngun...

personally i only have two emount lenses - the SEL18-200 and the 16mm Sony Prime with the optional ultra wide adapter, which was a bargain used. all other lenses are nikon mount, as gene said, future proof.

Also canons are great optically, but limited compatibility and expensive electronic adapters are required on some cameras, e.g. how do you power it on a F5 without the need of an expensive ef to fz adapter?

Be careful with your purchase: make sure to buy the FS700 "R" Version, with the 4K upgrade already installed. Otherwise you would have to send the camera in again to have it upgraded for another 500 bucks or so.
