I was about to make a post myself on this. Also the body only G2 is $299. I've been so on the fence between the t2i, t3i, canon a1200, elph 100-500, even ordered a t3i then cancled waiting for it to be in stock, and now this. My head's about to explode!!! Even if it's unhackable would this make the Gh1 the best value for the money right now at $350?
I ordered 3 Sunday night, giving up on the GH2 for now. I don't shoot anything of "epic" caliber, so at half or less than a GH2, it was an "offer I couldn't refuse". Now here's the rub. Last week I ordered GF2s and that order shows up on my "track your order" page. I have the receipt for these and my debit card was hit for authorization, but as of last night the order doesn't show up anywhere in my account.
PS. When the GF2s arrived on Monday, UPS did NOT need a signature. So had I not been here waiting, they would have done their typical "drop and run" leaving $1500 worth of cams out in the weather until someone showed up.

Just checked and still nothing on the Panny site about this order so I called. Thanks to this site and the various threads, I knew not to expect much form Panasonic. The robo answering machine says my order shipped yesterday via UPS. It gave me a tracking number that UPS doesn't recognize yet. Sweet huh ???

It's snowing today here in Green Bay, sloppy springtime snow. I just walked out my door to shovel and there are two boxes from FED EX ???
Panny's robo thingey told me they were coming UPS. I paid the $2.00 shipping on each and it looks like they came overnight.
Serial numbers are probably as fresh as they come, WE1BA on each of them !!!!
For those of you out there thinking "do I or don't I?" what I did at that point was go and read reviews of when these came out. Vitaliy has worked wonders on these, but seriously when they were brand new, people didn't think they sucked !!!
OH...and one last thing, for now anyways.
That AC Adapter you can't find ANYWHERE for the GH2, comes IN THE BOX WITH THIS !!!

Yes, get on Facebook and search for and find Panasonic, then you have to "like" Panasonic, which let's you then get Panasonic's announcements on your Facebook page. Once that happens you click on the Panasonic link on those announcements, it takes you to their Facebook page which on the left side of their page has a link to FANS ONLY DEALS.
Also with these that I got being Feb. 2011 serial numbers, I think we can figure why Panny has shipped GH2s. They probably have been building out the last of the GH1s with whatever parts were left.

Nice they came that fast for ya. My order also isn't showing on Panasonic's web site, so I called them to be sure and they said they've got plenty in stock and my order was processed.
Problem for me is, I only have a couple of old canon and nikon lenses from an aborted diy DOF adapter. I ordered a nikon adapter from Amazon today, but good luck if it will come in before middle of next week. Also ordered a canon adapter off ebay and that will take 2 weeks+ from overseas.
And hey Thome...how bout you ship one of those GH1 to Vitaliy so he can try and hack the new ones.

I just saw a post on another forum by somebody from panasonic and they said they only ship to U.S. Zip codes. They haven't charged my card yet....now that I've taken the plunge, this waiting is killing me and it's been less than 10 hrs since I ordered. :grin:
the other facebook sale was only for the US - if you´re in canada , don´t hold your breath....it probably won´t ship - this whole deal is strange because it appeared pany ended the other sale because bodies were no longer available ....hmmm ? and now they have more bodies ? they must have a gh1 tree somewhere in eden !

So it sounds like you guys haven't left us new GH1 users out to dry. That's awesome news! Let's hope you find a hack for it. I personally have an unhackable GH1. But it's the only camera I have, so I can't part with it. Hopefully someone can because I'd love to take this thing to the next level.

OK, I bit the bullet and ordered a gh1 through this deal. It'll be neat to compare it to my GH2 and at least I have enough lenses so that both cameras can be used at the same time. ChipThome, are you sure that the AC adapter is the same as the one required for the GH2? If so, that would be an added bonus! I'm sure that the DC coupler is different though....
My bad, I see now where it did look that I meant the GH2 AC adapter was included. I meant to say the GH1 comes with ITS AC adapter, where GH2 owners can't get the one that is for theirs.
My intentions now are to keep these, maybe completely skipping the GH2 in favor for the GHWhatever. Because of I what I have read about Panny Service Repair costs, I ordered one more as a spare, it's darn near the same price as a repair job.
I got a confirmation from Adorama today that they shipped a GH1 body that I ordered yesterday for $399 free shipping, so there's no reason to deal with Panny Direct. Ever since the release of the GH1, there's been nothing but horror stories about people ordering from PD...I think PD must be a forklift driver in the Panny warehouse selling units from the employee bathroom on his iPhone. Adorama also has 32gb Class 10 Sandisk Extreme cards for like $95, so I picked up another one of those. Adorama is my #2 after B&H...and where I got my first pre-order GH1...they always come through. When Amazon finally gets GH2's, I might upgrade....Amazon Prime RULES. Overnight shipping on anything for $3.99...free 2-day shipping. Amazon and Google are taking over the world! Who says you can't have your Soylent Green and eat it too, I love it!!!
