Here, criticism is intended to show you how to improve. So take it for what it's worth, don't defend valid points, think about it and apply it.
If it's bad, we'll tell you that it is, but we also will tell you WHY...
If it's good, we'll cheer you on and offer a few suggestions to make it BETTER.
DVXUser can be your proving ground before you enter the real world where people hide behind anonymity to say nasty things just because they can. But workshop here, fix the problems before you get there and believe me, they'll have less to criticize...
Hummm...tough thing. One man's garbage is another man's treasure. Van Gogh died penniless and pretty much unknown...it wasn't until years after his death that he started to be recognized and is now considered a master.
No one can tell you how to make YOUR art better...they can suggest what THEY think would make it better, but that would be just for them and their tastes. No one can talk for the masses (just ask Van Gogh). All critiques should be taken with a large grain of salt. I'd hate to think there's only one way for a film to be good.
Art is about expression, we make it and send it out into the world...if we touch even one person, it's a success! Making films as a form of artistic expression & making films that sell are too very different things. Yes, the two can meet, but there's no magic formula that works for everyone.
Remember, opinions are like A**holes and everybody's got one. Any comments, good, bad or indifferent are a positive. Some people will love you...others won't...it's the way of the world. If you try to change your style to please everyone... you won't please anyone.
